Meh, I don't have that many, and for the most part, the only reason I have them is so that I can get everything in the game and beat it to completion.

Just FYI, Pokémon Special Edition is the one I refer to when I say Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow, and Pokémon Crystal is what I mean when I say Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal.

so can you complete a game without cheating

Yep. I've already beaten almost all of the games I own, with or without the guide book, but I don't see using the guide book as cheating. If that were cheating, then all you people who rely on the internet walkthroughs is just as bad (probably worse, as the internet walkthroughs rarely leave out the "top-secret" stuff). Now, using a Gameshark or other cheat device to blaze through a game in less than one day (or less than an hour, depending on what kind of game it is) is major cheating, and I don't do that until I've beaten the game normally. Or, I might do that just to get a feel of the game, then start over from scratch.

I own the guides for Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X-2. I didn't buy them to help me out with the games, as I'd already completed them. Rather, I bought them for the pretty pictures and excellent artwork contained within. *nods*
