Why are Square's sequels no longer entirely new?
Keep in mind that I haven't played FF games after Final Fnatasy 9.
I just heard not only that X-2 is a direct sequel to X, but that FFXII is going to be one as well.
Why is Square no longer choosing a completely new story for every new game? I always liked doing something entirely different with every new game.

FFXII isn't a sequel to FFX, it's an integration of FFTA with the main series. Also, FFXI was unrelated to other games in terms of plot. Sheesh, you kids today.....
And even though it has that integration, it's an entirely new story. The ONLY FF games that have had sequels are VII and X. Every other has a brand new storyline, XII included.
Does that mean it's using the battle system from FFTA?
In the trailer of FF12, it says it takes place 2 years after X-2. I guess what I'm saying is that new universes were always a nice change, i.e. from FF8 modern to FF9 standard fantasy setting.
No, it isnt using FFTA's battle system. It's using the world of Ivalice and things like vieras.
It does not take place in Spira. How long has it been since X-2 was released? Over a year? It'll be 2 years then, when XII is released.
And the battle system it uses is from FFXI so I've been told.
Because Square would rather cater to infantile ADD kids who can't sit through playing a game and would rather watch it in movie format.
I have ADD and have beaten most Final fantasy games. I find the above very offensive.

While this would explain FFVII Advent Children, it wouldn't explain FFTA. Or FFXI.
It wasn't an insult, more of a scathing remark on the ineffectuality of modern societies multi-tasking mentality which breeds people with the ailment.
