Everything I see here is about FFVIII... Personally I thought it was a great game. It was a really refreshing break from the cookie-cutter cloning of general FF. It felt like they actually, y'know... Spent more than 5 minutes coming up with stuff. That and it took risks!

Personally, though, the one thing I never, ever want to see is a direct sequel. As far as I'm concerned, FFX2 didn't happen.

I'm not one to judge FF games for what they should or should not be. I used to be quite judgemental and demand that everyone like FFVIII. I've learnt to respect other's peoples opinions, whether they original or generated through silly conformism (that's right, you know who you are) as well as love a game for what it is.

But I am a sucker for deep love stories.

There's only 2 things I've disliked, and won't mind seeing them go.

1. Being required to play whatever minigame. Granted, I really liked FFX's Blitzball, but I've hated all the card games, FFX-2's version of Blitzball, and Sphere Break.

2. Random Battles. Chrono Cross was great in that I only had to fight when I wanted to. Which pretty much meant bosses only. Glad that FFXII is doing away with random battles, here's hoping they get rid of the required minigame too.

Sorry, as much as many people who have a strange agenda against a simple video game for stupid reasons, X-2 did happen, and yes, it does exist, too bad for you!

What should never be in an FF game again?

Uh...FFVIII's junction system, like many have said, mini-games that are required in order to get some of the best stuff (damn all that crap in FFX and FFX-2).
Not everybody is good at those mini-games, but they have to be if they want some of the best weapons in the game . If they're gonna' force the mini-games, they could at least make the requisitions lower (getting a 0.00 in the chocobo thing in FFX is impossible for me ).

But it doesn't give you the right to attack the game when someone mentions it. Something you do over and over again. One little mention, and boom, you make these stupid attacks. I don't care if you hate or not, but the nonse you spew out of your mouth is enough to provke fans who like the game, and go against you.

I love all FF games! FFX-2 too, and FFX and FF8, FF7, FF6, FF5, FF4, FF3, FF2, FF, FFT, FFMQ even FF9 although this one was too childish and easy but I still love it.
There is nothing wrong with FF games. Card games are great! The only thing I would like never to happen again - getting ultimate weapons in minigames, I think minigames should remain sidequests.

The number one thing that should never be in an FF ever again is *drum roll* FFX. Bahahah, just joshin'. I really mean that what makes FFX so bad should never be put into an FF again. Linearity, poor voice acting, an excruciatingly annoying main character, the CTB, and cliche villains are things that I never want to see in another FF ever again.
