Default How to make IE your default browser again

As I said in another thread I recently downloaded mozilla firefox, I'm still planning on using it but I'd like to know how to make IE my default browser again just for the heck of it. Sometimes it gives me the option when I go open IE but it hasn't been doing it recently so now I'm not sure how to make it my default browser. Thanx in advance.
I seriously got this the first time I tried it.

Tools > Internet Options > Programs > IE should check to see... > Tick that > Apply > Ok > Exit IE > Open IE > When it asks you to set IE as the default browser put yes

How do you deal with a browser snatcher? I can't even read my E-mail.

    Theres a few possible ways:
    a) try adaware and spybot search and destroy.

    If they don't remove it
    b) Uninsall Internet Explorer and reinstall it

    If that doesn't work
    c) Download a different browser and use that

Also remember if you are using XP disable System Restore by doing the following:
Right-click on My Computer on your start-menu or desktop > System Restore > Turn it off

What does disabling system restore have anything to do with setting a default browser?

Its to do with getting rid of a browser high-jacking spyware bug like Tastey asked about...

I'm not talking about the default browser thing anymore, I'm on the what if your default browser becomes high-jacked question...

I know that, but how does disabling system restore prevent browser high-jacking?

No it means if it has been you can get rid of it without it copying itself back out of system restore once you've removed it.

    no it doesn't.

and you can't really uninstall IE in XP, it's a integral part of the OS

I have the same trouble, Tastey.

Infact, it just happened today. Redirection leads to here: mk:@MSITStore:C:\spe\start.chm::/start.html#

DO NOT go to that site. Well, you can if you want, but I wouldn't. Regardless, it's annoying.

Adaware failed. Spybot failed. WCShredder failed. Hijack This! Finds and tries to delete them, but the files are registry values, and cannot be fixed. The others come back.

I've tried Registry Cleaners but am unable to find the values.

    Tomorrow is reformat day. Wooh...

Mine is about:blank ...Thats it..thats the web adress.. about:blank

Its not an avertisement, not even a real website. Just one of those search things that tells you where to find misc stuff. Like viagra, like i need that.

It keeps making itself my homepage and it won't God damn leave.

Well, at least I will always know where to find a fresh batch of valium.

MySearch toolbar is spyware - pain to remove too since adaware didn't catch it when I had to remove it off my sister's PC. It took several reboots and some registry digging to remove it.
