Well is your display mode 16-bit?
I dunno how do I check?

delete old one
Play game

Do alot of technical stuff
Fail
take more advice
Get confused

So lets just fix your problem
I doubt its realy DirectX's problem so you don't have to worry about DXdiag. Right click the desktop, properties, setting, change the dropdown list to 16 bit.

Hah, can't believe i looked over something as obvios as your color quality xD I figured it was a problem with DirectX

I have to do the same thing before running my Genesis emulator.
