Thread: Breath Of Fire

  1. #1

    Default Breath Of Fire

As you may or may not know, Squaresoft made Breath Of Fire, then Capcom took over at the last minute.

Do you think Squaresoft should've kept BOF? If they did, what do you think it'd be like instead of what Capcom has turned it into?

Personally, I've only played BOFIII and most of BOFIV and BOF: DQ. If Squaresoft (now Square Enix) keeping it means that BOFIII would be completely different, then I like Capcom making the sequals, but I still would prefer anything over BOF: DQ.

Well....your wrong Jolts. Capcom made Breath of Fire. Squaresoft did the american translation and published it over here. That is the extent of Squenix's involvement in the Breath of Fire series.

There are 5. Dragon Quarter is number 5. I've never played it, but the other ones are all awesome.

There are 5, yes, but Dragon Quarter is in no way Breath Of Fire V. BOF: DQ sucks major ace, and I would rather eat a stick in the mud than play that game ever again (my opinion).

aeris2001x2, I would greatly suggest you play Breath Of Fire III, it's my favorite . BOFIV is alright, but I still think BOFIII is better.

I also think III is the best. I hear terrible things about V so I'll probably never buy it, but the other four are kick butt games.

I told myself I was going to play Dragon Quarter this summer because I'm a Breath of Fire freak, but most of my time was spent cussing at the cheapness that is Lufia 1.

I really have no motivation to play Dragon Quarter anymore since I hear it has no story. Then again, Grandia Xtreme had no story and I loved that game to death.

To hell with Battletoads and Double Dragon.

    1. BOF: DQ is not BOFV.
    2. Why didn't you move this to General Game Discussion?
    3. Yes, BOFIII is still the best .

I started the series with BOFIII, sogoing back to play BOFI and BOFII kinda' didn't work...

    1. I did not know that. Is there another game called BoFV out yet? I only referred to DQ as that because it's the fifth one in the series.

    2. Eh, this forum needs traffic.

    3. I agree!

I played Breath of Fire when it came out on the Game Boy Advanced, and I enjoyed it. I was going to buy 2, but I had little motivation to do so. I've heard great things about Breath of Fire III, and I should probably buy it some time in the near future.

Well, BOF: DQ was initially going to be BOFV, but they changed it sometime in the middle of making the game (and I'm glad they did...). I haven't heard much about any BOFV yet, but I'm hoping for the best .

Yes you should, but it's kinda' old now, so don't expect top notch graphics. The graphics are pretty good, but the dragon system they use is what I like most about BOFIII.

The best BOF by far is BOFII. BOFI was alright, but it could have been better. BOGIII was really good, but in BOFII there is so much you can do.

I never got far in BOFII, so I can't opine on that (ooh, "opine," not a commonly used word ). From what I did play, it seemed alright. I never understood that emblem that shows when you talk to people, and why it sometimes changes colors.

The color changing emblem reflects the mood of the character you were speaking with. Black was the worst, and the rapidly color changing one was the best. I'm not quite sure how this effected the storyline, my guess is the dialogue.
