Yes.
Of course I would have tipped him another eight, but that's because I'm a badass rockstar. And I can sympathize with him. Y'know.
I usually go with ten percent being a reasonable tip for me. If it's $10, a buck'll do. If it's $498., Oh you better believe I'm expecting $50. Cause that's a trout load of pizza.

Sorry but I use to work in a place that delivered also and that is all those people did. They didn't take the order, make the food or even package it up. That .75 needs to be raised with gas the way it is now. 2 years ago that was half a gallon and thus enough but not any more.
I know it is graditude for my food being delivered but when I am charged a few bucks more just because it is being delievered that graditude I might have had went out the window.
I generally don't get delivery though and just carry out because it is cheaper overall for me to drive there and pick it up with out tip and without the extra charge.
It's not the driver's fault there's a delivery charge. >:O
Personally, I'd do away with it for the massive ammount of people who think the delivery charge is the tip. GRAHR.

Could you please explain what that few dollars is for? I assume all of it goes to gas for the driver so that they don't have to pay for gas. I also assume since it is a few dollars(not too sure exactly how much it is) not all of it can be for gas so the rest is probably a tip for the driver already built in. I know thats not how it works but I can't seem to find any reasons why it doesn't work that way.
Here in Portugal we don't have that kind of stuffs, but 4 ex. when two guys were at my house screwing a bookshelf we gave him a good tip... :rolleyes2Originally Posted by Meat Puppet
Got me. The delivery charge for us is $1.50. Half goes to us for gas, and the rest goes tot he company for whatever.Originally Posted by edczxcvbnm

I tip my pizza boy. I tip him even more because I hear about Spiff's terrible non-tips :o
I'd like to take a 'Mr. Pink' attitude to tipping, but in reality I'm too scared of getting dirty looks from waitresses.
In reality, I tip around 10%, rounding up to the nearest pound if I've received good service, and rounding down if I've received poor service.

I try to tip generously IF and only if my server acts like I'm worth his or her time. Mainly because my Mom was a waitress, and raising 3 kids on a tip jar...I sympathize with the servers. I am also a very understanding person. If the place is stacked, I understand if my food is late, and the server isn't there as often as s/he should be. HOWEVER, if I'm offered drinks once, get the food tossed (As in hurled, albeit lightly. It has been done to me), and generally treated poorly, you ain't gonna get nuthin' from me. And I never order delivery, so that facet is a mystery to me.

My dad does the 15% thing. I don't know how to do that, so I just tip with whatever seems right. One time I gave a pizza guy ten dollars and he seemed surprised/happy.

How much was the order?

I don't tip, but I make dadaist art out of my leftovers and the cutlery, and occasionally accompany it with notes scrawled on serviettes to the management![]()
I'll tip based on service, like if the waiter gets me a fresh glass with fresh ice for a drink refill, rather than refilling my already watered down glass. Other things like promptness and frendliness count, though it's only a matter of a couple bucks really. I give a minimum of ten percent. In the US tipping is pretty much expected and restaurants actually consider that in their prices and wages. If tipping were outlawed, we'd just face higher menu prices.
For pizza boys/girls I'll usually round up to the nearest dollar and add a buck on top of that. I'm not going to pay an extra 3 bucks just because the guy had to carry two more pizzas to/from his car. 20 pizzas I can see, but I've never ordered that many. Anyway, you got to give them at least something.
