    Is it USB?

    My USB CDRW was being picky with me for a while. Turns out that leaving it turned on 24/7 made it unhappy . So I just started turning it off when I don't use it and it works.

    Otherwise try reinstalling the drivers or look for updates or something.

    i dont think so, it's inside the tower

    also i never leave the comp on for more then 7 hours at a time

    i dont think it came with any drivers. if there are any, they'd be on a cd but IT WONT READ THE CD :{{{

    tried to get firmware for it
    tried to get aspi or whatever reinstalled too
    one cd spins and only that one. it makes 0 sense. i'll beat it up

    edit: the one cd it does read cannot be read by any other computer for some reason. different sort of data read/write type? but it used to read everything before. now it only reads this one thing. doesnt even notice blank cd-r's in it.

    Is this one CD a CD burned by the drive itself? If so, then it's probably the drive is damaged or failing somehow, and you need to get a new one.
