Thread: College Groups

  1. #1

    Default College Groups

I just got back from my Uni convocation thing, and I signed up for various things including Amnesty International, Fencing Society, etc., and I thought that it would make a good thread topic.

So, all you university types, what groups were/are/are you going to be in?

I was in this writer's group at Cal State Hayward called Occam's Razor. Other than that, I'm a lazy bum.

Eh, I may end up joining clubs for future teachers once I start my credientialing. Dunno yet. For the past three years of college I haven't joined any clubs.

I've been thinking about joining the Criminal Justice club, but that's about it.

I run our school's Poker Club (basically an illegal casino), I do the Indian thing, I'm part of those honor groups or whatever, and I signed up for volunteer groups but don't do any. Joined the Bartending club, but it's not school sponsored.

College Rowing Club, College Audio-visual society, College Spring Ball Committee, College Music Society, University Australia and New Zealand Society. I'm probably in some others that I've forgotten about...

    Go volunteer, ya bum.

I didn't put down any ties last year, just got involved here and there, then disappeared like magic. Whoosh.

    Signature by rubah. I think.

Why would I volunteer if I don't want to? Organized volunteer groups are my personal pet peeve, mostly because I thrashed Kiwanis International in generating funds for earthquake victims in India on my own. They're inefficient and full of highschool kids who don't care about what they're doing except for getting into college. Yes, this is a stereotype, yes there are exceptions, but since this is validated by experience, I'm sticking with it.
