    Smile Useless

Alrighty, I'm bored, this is infact how this thread came to be. I was in a bookshop today and saw this book with about 300 pages filled with useless knowledge, it was funny and rather interesting (planning to buy it) and it made me wonder...

What's a random piece of useless knowledge that you know?

Great books there. I have the 15th edition on my toilet at home! A lot of useless information in there.

Fruit bats are actually closer to primates than true bats. Rather than echolocating, they rely on keen vision and an excellent sense of smell.

So THAT'S why that alarm clock is so damn loud!

Starfish have no brains to speak of.

An ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain.

Cats are left-hand dominant, and adult cats are typically lactose intolerant.

Dolphins and humans are the only animals that have sex for recreation.

    A dog's mouth has less bacteria than a human's.

The Mona Lisa has no eyebrows, because at that time it was the vogue for women to shave off their eyebrows.

The symbols for Gold and Iron (Au and Fe) mean Aurum and Ferris, the alchemical names for those elements.

You can take a fish in a bowl of water, take out the water, fill it with mountain dew, let the fish die, take out the mountain dew, replace it with water, and when if you put the contacts of a 9 volt battery to the top of the water, the fish will revive.

Viz productions uses the wrong spelling for the name of Inuyasha's sword in the show Inuyasha. The way they spell it is Tetsusaiga, but the "tsu" in the middle can be used in 2 ways. The way they use it when writing the kanji for it is as a glottal stop, a brief pause between syllables. It sounds almost like a slur of the previous letter, and is therefore romanized as a double letter, being spelled as 'Tessaiga' instead of 'Tetsusaiga'.

That's my useless information for the day lol.

    You're welcome! ^_^

Did you know that the color calico/tortiseshell (in cats) almost always occurs in females, and if it's in a male, he's almost always sterile.
