I wouldn't say one way or the other with Bahamut. We will just have to wait 6-12 months after expansion if he will play any other role in game.

Many didn't think Summoner would be able to function in online world, well job is in game. Fenrir was seen in cutscenes in windy mission way before available as smn. And Fenrir cause havoc to windy in story.

So I won't dismiss Bahamut from ever being a smn but he wont be for now or for a while. So be patient and see what COP brings as far as story goes.
