1) Namco and Square, to my knowledge, don't have any relationship in particular to speak of. Namco would need Square's permission (as they did to use Link and Spawn) to put Tidus in. Besides, the cameo needs to be fairly well known. Namco was right to use Heihachi for PS2 since he's already from Tekken. Generally, most people who have played SC would have played Tekken.
2) Tidus is a n00b. The characters in Soul Calibur 2 are all rightfully claiming possession of that ultimate sword known as Soul Edge. The swordmasters of SC2 0wn n00bs like Tidus. The first time Tidus ever picked up a sword was at the beginning of his adventure. Even 3-year old Astaroth has more battle experience than Tidus.
3) Wouldn't make sense for Tidus to be rung out on the pirate ship stage since he can swim
4) Get rid of Heihachi?! NEVER!!
5) Tidus getting corrupted and turning evil through Soul Edge, though hilarious, sounds stupid.
