    Unhappy the plot.....

hey im right at the end of disc two and i am begining to get annoyed with the plot i can accept that some things will be answered at the end and things but i dont like the way its all playing out, its all just one thing then the next and so on whereas in other ff games up to a certain point you have to do certain things but then you become free to do loads of optional and different things or none and just go end or whatever. does this at all happen in ff8 or is it just 1...2...3...4?
one thing to another to another? and are there any actual optional stuff ? (and i dont mean just picking up random items which mostly arent all that good)

In 8 you van run around, very easily in disc 3 with the ragnorak but there aren't as many sidequests to complete compared with the others but still a fair few but yeah disc 3 is the best part

Cheers. There are a bunch of side quests on disc 3. Killing Ultima Weapon
is a good one, getting the ultimate weapons is another...not really any
mini-games like in others except for the chocobo game which is pretty
    hurting in 8. :\

Still, if I were you I'd check out the islands closest to heaven and hell,
look at a world map to find them, they're both just on opposite sides of
the map and they both have the strongest monsters in the game on them,
especially hell which has pretty much all dragon monsters. Check it out.

Oh and also be sure to get all the GFs

You can run around and do stuff as early as when the Garden becomes mobile. There's stuff to do in disc 2, and more stuff to do in disc 3.

You can play triple triad if you really hate yourself.
