Sadly it's true, money rules the world.
It might have been rebelious a couple years ago, but it's hardly rebelious when everyone is doing it. I think the others are right. It's what sells.
I find many songs though that have absolutely nothing to do with sex or drugs or any of that. There are plenty of bands out there that can write good songs that aren't about the last girl they "met." You just have to find a band you like that keeps it relatively clean.
Yeah, it's what sells. And bands who make albums just to sell things arent good bands. They probably don't even write their own songs anyways.
Rock 'n roll has alwasy been about sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. It's the rock 'n roll lifestyle.
I quite enjoyed how much Green Day sing/sang about being stoned, though it tended to fit into their songs and not (always) be the main subject. If every band did it it would be a bit troute, but other than GD I can't really think of a band I listen that makes a lot of songs on drugs/sex. Except the Bloodhound gang, but with album names like Use Your Fingers and Hooray For Boobies you know what to expect before you listen.

I think it's more about comedy with The Bloodhound gang though, i've only heard two of their songs but they come off as a band who are trying to make people laugh to me.
You're right Skogs. Bands have been making music about sex and drugs since long before most of us were born. Seriously, did you think the Beetles were totally substance free when they wrote I am the Walrus. I don't koo koo ka chooing well think so!Rock 'n roll has alwasy been about sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. It's the rock 'n roll lifestyle.
Just out of curiosity Pure Strife, what bands do you listen too?
I believe cave men probably sang alot about sex too, or probably mating chants. Or something.
There are a lot of people that like having sex (or so I hear). It's only natural that people would also like singing about it. They don't sing about community service, or putting in overtime at a crappy job, because there aren't enough people that like those things. They're just singing about things that people like.
Knock yourselves down.
Because they satisfy our most important urges, aggression, sedation and creation.
