From the translations I read of Rufus he was indeed hiring Cloud to investigate/fight Kadajs group. He originally refused and Rufus said something along the lines of "I hear you're taking care of orphans these days". That succesfully coaxed Cloud into taking up the mission. As far as Kadajs group goes does anyone seriously believe they're NOT clones or bred in the same manner?
