    Default Kenneth Bigley....is there hope?

While he is still alive there is a small, almost inconsiderable amount of hope, despite the fact that the other two hostages have been killed. I know that everyone in Britain is hoping that Kenneth Bigley is releases by his captors in Iraq, but in my opinion this is not very likely.

It saddens me that two Americans and a Brit have been taken hostage over a political issue that has occurred in France. It just goes to show that these terrorists are not doing this for any particular reason other than they can.

The ITV luchtime news today showed a reporter outside the house of commons talking about Tony Blair. He said Tony Blair is a very religious man and must be wondering where God is right now. I found this a very ironic statement. Kenneth Bigley went to Iraq to help Iraqi people move on after the war and this is his reward. To be brutally murdered in the most horrific manner imaginable.

people in this reigon have allways been brutal, there's accounts from the 1800's of horrified brits reporting abhorent acts, unfortunately we don't have anything like the military control that we did then so we ourselves have become victims of these men. All we can do is sit and pray, because there is allways a chance of survival.

personally i think there is no hope. this group has showed no mercy before, killing nick berg, the korean guy and two americans without thought. His beheaded body will turn up soon.

Nice *liberation* Blair. god i hate him even more. He and Bush may as well have beheaded them himself...

sorry, went a bit overboard. Doc Sark, he is from mersyside right?

It'd be nice to see him released, but when you wage a war, you reap what you sow.

Kenneth Bigley? Yeah he is from Merseyside. I feel sorry for his elderly mother the most, she has collapsed twice and been hospitalised twice through this ordeal. It sounds cold, but at 86 I wouldn't be surprised if it's all too much for her.

In my opinion, Kenneth Bigley will be killed by the terrorists, and after him, many more innocents will be kidnapped, held hostage, and be killed.

Personally, I think the terrorists always know their demands will not be met (As if any government gave in, more people would be kidnapped and so on and so forth), and are just doing it as revenge against the invading forces. Yes, these are innocents with nothing to do with the invasion, but I imagine they just want to take it out on all foreigners.

It's really sad that people have to hold innocent people hostage, and murder them, in order to try to further whatever cause they believe in. And it's a shame that it's been increasing throughout the 21st Century.

This is what war brings, yet everyone seems to love the hell out of it and want more more more so I don't see why anyone is getting sad about it.

Of course, the Iraqi prisoner abuse, and all their inncoent citizens getting killed is no biggie...yep.

Its very hard for me to feel any sympathy at all for these reasons...call me heartless but I don't know enough about Blair to dislike him, and I hate Bush with a passion, and because of this whole stupid thing Bush started and Blair going along with I have a hard time caring about they dying Brits and Americans.

And as far as hope goes...nah, I don't see any.

One civilian, unarmed, held by a bunch of guys who have guns and are willing to use them? No, not much hope. Maybe the Marines will find where he's hidden and bust in and save him; unlikely.

The hostage should fight the kidnappers. Make them kill him on his own terms, and don't give them the pleasure of getting it on tape. Maybe take a few of them down with him. Of course it's easy for me to say that, since I'm not there. But after the 12th video shows up of a hostage being beheaded, I don't really think holding out hope of survival is very rational.

Nice really valid point and i'm impressed by your thinking..

I am inclined to agree with Dr. Unne (and others) notion of there being no hope. However.....

This is what war brings, yet everyone seems to love the hell out of it and want more more more so I don't see why anyone is getting sad about it.

This is quite a ridiculous generalisation. Of course not everyone in the world wants WAR WAR WAR. That is absurd. You are not the only one angry about the repercussions that the war has bought about. Personally I feel sympathy for anyone, Iraqi, British, Uzbehkistani, or whoever that is innocent and gets dragged in to this mess through no fault of their own. No innocent person deserves to die. Just because we are British or American does not mean we are representative of the views or actions of Tony Blair or George Bush, after all there was no public vote to decide whether we went to war or not so why should we or any other nationality be punished for them. In the case of Kenneth Bigley (and countless others no doubt) he had gone to Iraq in the hope of helping people. For that he deserves, as does any other innocent killed as a result of this mess, your sympathy.

It is the least, and the most you can do.

I strongly believe we are 'allowing' the situation in Iraq to get out of hand so that the idea that terrorists are around is constantly being portrayed. Could we stop these guys? Hell yeah I think we could. Are we going to? No, because this is helping Bush in the polls more than it is hurting him imo. It makes Bush's war on terror look more real and threatening than it really has to be, and who is our christ, our savior? Why, george bush of course! He can put a stop to this, once and for all, if only we vote for him! That's how I see it anyway.

Oh my! You're right! George Bush is orchastrating the entire war! Everything he's done so far was simply to help his campaign along! I'd bet he's even paying the terrorists to do this, that way, us American citizens are able to see just how real the war is! Yeah! Why didn't I see it before?!

Honestly. Sure, the US military has the power to go in there, destroy the terrorists and what not. But at what cost?

If they were to go in there, sending off bombs, blazing guns, there would simply be too many people dead, innocent or no. Personally, I think we're doing all that we can, in Iraq, for the time being.

I never said he was paying terrorists. I just said he is allowing them to do their thing for the time being. If we wanted to stop them, we could, and we could do it without losing all to many lives.

I don't think you can ever put a full stop to terrorism. I agree with Black Mage in that the only thing that would come from sending in more troops to flush out terrorists would be mass carnage and destruction, probably a lot more than the war itself. Terrorists tend to be a lot less specific about who they kill, just as long as they achieve a selfish goal in the process.
