Thread: Why square? Why?

    Default Why square? Why?

Why are they doing this to us? Does anyone know why squaresoft or square-enix or whatever are being so sadistic? First there were all the rumors. You know, I had no idea about FF7: Advent Children until one day I stumbled onto it on kazaa looking for FF mv's, and when I actually downloaded and watched a dude with spiky blond hair and a big ass sword riding a motorbike in what looked like a city id seen before, realization dawned on my soul and I screamed and blubbered like a child. I thought I was watching a fmv sequence from a FF sequel, when I found out it was going to be a movie it was disappointing but still okay. Ever since then I've been hyped up getting every bit of juice I can, and now, what’s all this rubbish about FF7: Dirge of Cerberus? Why must square torment us with these.... false truths? They made an awesome game a few years ago called Final Fantasy 7, all we wanted was the same thing with better graphics and some new twist with materia, not Vincent hyped up on anti-depressants killing what look like shinra soldiers, with a DMC looking engine. Its not ff7 anymore, please everyone who disagrees with a remake of the original with better graphics (not that the eye candy makes a game) with a more ff-X battle approach? Spheres are just another derivate of materia anyway... just like the stones and crystals in FFIX. Please square, give us, or me, ill pay you a million bucks to make me a RPG ff7 sequel.

Sorry if not alot of that makes sense but its 3am.

oh gosh...to you and EVERYONE ELSE COMPLAINING...It's Square's game, they can do WHATEVER the hell they want to it...I mean, c'mon, them trying something new isnt GONNA HURT damn it. If they wasn't gonna do anything new, you would then complain about them running out of ideas! all square is trying to do is open up to new customers, introduce old school fans to new type of gaming, and MOST IMPORTANT(no matter how much you reject it) MAKE MORE MONEY!!!!
    get over it!

Wait for it to come out, play it the whole way through, then complain. Don't knock DOC untill you've tried it.

Squenix are the E-X-P-E-R-T-S Every problem you can think of with this game they have probably sat around a table eating muffins discussing how to get around it.

    E-X-P-E-R-T-S sheesh!

She is saying that they should work on a new version of ff7 instead of making movies and and action games.

    *He

Square would have to make about a million different products if they wanted to satisfy everyone's unique desires for the FF series.

"OMG! Advent Children is a movie, not a game! THIS IS NOT FFVII!"

"OMG! Dirge of Cerberus is an action game, not an RPG! THIS IS NOT FFVII!"

"OMG! Cloud isn't in Dirge of Cerberus! THIS IS NOT FFVII!"

"OMG! There might not be Materia in Dirge of Cerberus! THIS IS NOT FFVII!"

"OMG! They're making another sequel! THIS IS NOT FF!"

    ...and so forth.
Bascially, some people won't be happy unless FFVII gets remade; some people would be angry if FFVII was remade. Some want sequels, some despise the idea. Square-Enix cannot make everyone happy; it's simply not possible.

How many of you enjoyed FF7? How many of you actually finished the game? Be honest. I have, and it’s quite easily the best game around, still. To me anyway. I have only ever expressed my opinion, which I should have stated in my first post (it was 3am) more reverently. But think about it, how many people want a sequel to final fantasy seven? I do, ill buy doc, but its not the same thing, its not going to convey the same feelings, I was not dissing the game I was just saying that its not going to be like the original (not just the genre) and I'm not having a go at square, I love the company, so don’t twist my meaning. But it’s like every time FF7 is mentioned by square it’s never in the context that MOST people want. Put your hand up if you would love a remake? Don’t have a go at me, tell me, honestly, if you enjoyed FF7 would u not also enjoy a remake with nice eye-candy and character voices? I would, because it would do it justice. FF7 deserves a face lift if any game ever did.

Whether you spit or swallow that’s what I think.

I dont square ever eally intended to make a ACTUAL SEQUEL TO ff7...but hey, milk iit all out for what its worth, so instead of making an actual sequel, they made spinoffs and a movie....Maybe they thought making a REAL sequel would be way over the line or better yet...They're building the plot for the actual SEQUEL! I mean, has anyone ever thought of that? Maybe they used the movie, online, and action to get almost EVERYONE hooked to buy the upcoming new game...but hey, who knows...DoC is just a spin-off.

Well, for whatever move a company does there will always be people who complain, and there will always be people who complain about others complaining. All the same, really, and it's just the way life is. Best to just focus on what is important to you and not care what others have to say.

I'm looking forward to DoC, but not the movie because I like playing it not watching it. If Square ever makes a direct game sequel to FFVII I would gladly buy it and likely enjoy it, but in the meantime I have plenty of other things to occupy my time.

I basically agree with most of what you say, except that I don't think a 'face-lift' is really necessary. They'd spend a lot of time and money simply making the game look better; a lot of fans would resent Square expecting them to buy the same game all over again.
When they decided to make AC and DoC, I'm sure they paid a lot of attention to what the fans were asking for Sure, not everyone's going to like their ideas, but they wouldn't do something that the majority of people were against.

    Yet my words still apply.

All of this is just Square giving fans what they want. Just like Big D said. They cant make everyone happy.
