it's not about choice. It just has choice included in it.
Destiny Island getting screwed up? (lol, probably waaaaay off)
It has to do with Riku choosing to let the darkness take him when he opened the door to darkness in Destiny Islands. Ansem pierced his heart with fire, but even after Ansem was defeated, his scent still lingered within Riku's heart. Riku ends up having to choose to cast off the darkness, or to keep it in his heart. What happens? Well go play CoM and find out.
