    Unhappy Christopher Reeve

It has just been announced that the original Superman, Christopher Reeve, has passed away at the age of 52 following a sudden heart attack.

Since he was paralysed in a riding accident some years ago, he became a leading spokesman for those with similar disabilities, with his oft-cited goal of walking again one day. Sadly, that day will never come now.

    Default R.I.P. Christopher Reeve

    Christopher Reeve, dead at 52

Very sad news, he was an incredibly brave man.

And it's so strange that this happens just a few days after John Kerry promises to help him walk again.

Edit: oops, Big D beat me to it, merge please.

I think his life, or at least towards the end of his life... was indeed a sad story. =( Rest in peace, Chris.

I don't know much about him, but the whole thing seems sad, and unfortunate. As Omecle said, R.I.P.

There are but a few people in this world who give back more than what they ever had and Christopher Reeve was certainly one. He gave hope and inspiration to millions upon millions of people in this world and proved that nothing was ever impossible. Throughout his life, especially after the terrible accident, he remained a remarkable person. Though he may be known as "Superman", he should forever be known as simply a man, a great, wonderful man.

My deepest and most heartfelt sorrows go out to his family, to his wife and children as well as all who suffer from such terrible breaks in life. May all of you keep your spirit as high as he did and perhaps one day, through science and technology, we will find ways to heal so much of this world's pain.

Remember that even in the deepest of troubles and personal struggles, never give up and look to those around you for strength:

"Reeve later married Dana Morosini; they had one son, Will, 12. Reeve also is survived by his mother, Barbara Johnson; his father, Franklin Reeve; his brother, Benjamin Reeve; and the children from his relationship with Exton, Matthew, 25, and Alexandra, 21.

In his 1998 book, "Still Me," he recalled that after the accident, when he contemplating giving up, his wife told him: "I want you to know that I'll be with you for the long haul, no matter what. You're still you. And I love you."

His children helped, too, he told interviewer Barbara Walters.

"I could see how much they needed me and wanted me ... and how lucky we all are and that my brain is on straight."

    Take care all.

You'll be missed. Rest in peace.

I will do this. Nothing in my life matters except this. No moment in my life exists except this moment. I am born in this moment, and if I fail, I will die in this moment.

I just heard the news about his death the other morning, and to my surprise the thought of him being dead was stuck with me for the rest of the day. I don't really know why? I'm too young to be in the "Superman-generation" and I've never been a fan of his work... I'm not saying that he was a bad actor, but that I just haven't been interested in his career. The reason why I was so shocked about his death was probably because of his accident years back. I've always seen him as a very brave man, and quite frankly I've been interested in how he dealt with his difficulties and his progress in moving again and so on. He put an impression on me in some weird way...

    Rest in peace, Christopher Reeve.
