I'll probably be blasted for saying this, but C.Reeves never would have pushed for research on this if he wasn't paralyzed. If he was never paralyzed, he never would have cared. It's sad that it has to take something so drastic to make people care. Often, if it doesn't affect you directly, you just don't care. Much like Michael J. Fox not caring about Parkinson's disease if he didn't have it.

With that said, I'm sorry for his family. The fact that his wife stayed by his side shows a lot of character out of her, and I highly respect her for it.
