You know what we're missing? A "rules" thread stickied in GC. Then you lock it so nobody can reply. And then we give it a title like 'READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST' so that everybody will read it. In this thread we will address all the EoFF no-no's like bye-bye/I'm back/list/spam threads.

Rubedo: Still, a "GC Rules" thread kind of thing could be quite of a help to get rid of all those spammy threads.

Unne already has done it (an FAQ), it just got wiped in the upgrade. All we need to do is find his old one and put it up.

As for rules etc, I'm pretty sure it says something about posting offensive material in the terms & conditions you see when you register. If anyone is too stupid to realise we don't allow porn here AND is too stupid to ask if it's allowed before doing it, too, then they're not needed at EoFF anyway.

People will always break the rules. This stuff happens. We have a thread like those you're talking about in EoEO and World Events, and I'm pretty sure we have just as many if not more than the average amount of people breaking rules in those forums. We don't try to have four stickied threads at all time - I'd say one or two seems about right for me.

A rules thread will honestly make crap all difference. Another point is that we don't go strictly by one set of rules - we work on problems case-by-case. So if people expect to bend the rules or if something was missed from said thread, everyone would call us a band of evil staffers who don't care about the common person. Which already happens so I guess there's no loss there. But yeah, see my two quoted posts and that sums up my point of view.

The bigger rules like porn and flaming are in the faq (when it was there) and should be no brainers anyway. All the smaller rules, like 'no I'm back threads' aren't major enough to warrant a thread detailing them all. Just make your topics and if they aren't legit we'll tell you. If you think it might be offensive or want to check on a rule always feel free to pm one of us or post in Feedback.
