Blademaster of Northland
Who would have done a better job in this Presidential term than Bush? Gore? As if. President Bush has been in power during a very difficult time of our country's history. People don't like how he's run things. Well, pretty close to every single person in every single country thinks they can run things better than their government does.
I would present the following. There are only 2 choices for responding to the terrorist attacks of 3 years ago. 1: hole up, close all borders, shoot everybody who tries to get in, and react to attackers once an attack has been made. 2: Take the fight to the attackers before they have a chance to kill another 6,500 people in one day. Any other options are just compromises that solve nothing and present more opportunities for attack.
Bush has chosen the second option. Why? because would you want to be responsible for the deaths of 5,000 people? Consider it. You wake up one morning and somebody walks into your bedroom and says to you, "You know that guy that you could have stopped a couple years ago? yeah he just killed about 6,000 people. You could have had him locked up or killed a few years ago, but ya chose to do as the People demanded, and did nothing. Now, 6,000 people are dead."
"Yeah yeah yeah, DeBlayde," you say to me. " 6,000 people is nothing in a world of 6 Billion."
And I answer, "Sure. The number is infantesimally small." Consider that each of the 6,000 had a family. People who depend on them. People who looked up to them. People who loved them.
You say, "yeah right. it was just a bunch of fat, ethnocentric, wealthy americans. nobody will miss them, and more should be killed."
a similar attitude was taken about 70 years ago someplace. Where was that?.... it's right on the tip of my tongue...... OH YEAH! Nazi Germany. Only then it was "Yeah right. It's only a buncha fat wealthy Jews. Nobody will miss them."
