I think the reason why the world (Europe, basically) hates Bush and America is because recent events and certain actions made by the American administration are reminiscent (though unjustly) for the Europeans of their own extremely bloody, callous and horrible past, not too long ago.

Also, they're bitter, because they'd want to take a part in this war as well, but the Arabs are holding them by the balls, pressuring, and using their awesome lobby in the UN to avert votes and decisions, among other things (like rules and regulations in European countries). So, they whine. Let 'em.

America should do what's best for America, while still doing their best not too harm anyone else too much (excpet their enemies, of-course). America isn't applying any sort of pressure or force on Europe, so the Europeans should just shut it and let America handle its affairs.
