    Default RahXephon

I said I would make a thread on this anime after I was done watching it and give my thoughts on the series. So here it goes. It is one of my favorite animes out there as it is extremely complex but at the same time entirely understandable.

Its 26 episodes and draws a lot of parellels to Evangelion. A teenage boy coming into adult hood but doesn't really trust anyone and has to come to grips with himself and the people around him in the end.

Unlike Evangelion, they have more characters that are better developed and just more characters in general. Also the story outside of the character relations is fully realized and was not filled up with symbolizim. The end might be a bit hard to understand but after you watch it a few times it makes perfect sense and is a conclusion that everyone will agree upon as it is fairly straight forward.

I am now going to watch wolf rain as it was done by the same studio. Bones has been great in their short history from RahXephon to Fullmetal Alchemist(better than this one).

What does everyone else think of this series?

As I said in the Eva thread, I believe it's a rather strange series. I did enjoy it, but it was a bit too much. The story was intriguing, yes, but it eventually seemed to get bogged down by overcomplication. It was a good series, but I do suspect that some sort of hallucogen went into its making.

No doubt. It did start to get bogged down by complication near the end but never to the point that Eva reached and they didn't cop out with a symbolic ending. They finished everything and gave it a clear conclusion.

What I love most about this series is its atmosphere. The tropical and forested environments, the character and costume designs, and, of course, the unique Mulian imagery make it stand out to me. I didn't even like the story that much, but I'd watch the whole thing all over again just for the atmosphere.

    Haven't seen the movie yet.

The Mulian civilization was rather nice, as was Nirai Kinai (is that it? Can't remember...)

I must say the ending where everything is back to normal amused me.

(SPOILER)Haruka=Black hair. Ayato=Gray hair. Quon (baby)=PINK HAIR!? WHAT!?

Not that hair color makes sense in anime anyways

Everyone tells me it's a blatant Neon Genesis Evangelion ripoff. I've yet to see RahXephon of Neon Genesis Evangelion though because I can't stand mecha stuff.
