p.s. If weed was legal and they taxed the crap out of it, then people would just start growing weed themselves.

Who cares? Let people grow weed and live with their heads full of fluff. We should be allowed to make our own decisions regarding what we want to do. It's not like weed was banned because of the drug's effect either. To quote a friend of mine:

Marijuana wasn't banned because it was a mind-altering drug. It was banned because of special-interest funding from cotton growers who were afraid that their corner on the textile market would be compromised by the increasing popularity of HEMP as a textile base. I guess in a perfect society we should legalize alot of drugs. Like ice,crank,meth,crystal,extasy,speed, or whatever. Yea lets have a society of more druggies! Lets mutate are genetics so are kids can be born deformed.

Actually I believe this, in an ideal society all drugs would be legal because it wouldn't matter. In an ideal society people wouldn't need restrictions against them, they'd be able to see that they're unnecessary themselves.

In any event the purpose of a free society is that we have the freedom to do as we please so long as we do not infringe upon the rights of others. Drugs do not infringe upon other's rights, and drug use doesn't inherently imply that such infringement will be done. Preventative legislature is unfair and punishes a larger group for the actions of the few.

Life is beautiful without lying to your body. If you need drugs to "feel good" then it's not drugs you need, it's a new perspective on your life.

That is not a reason for making drugs illegal, that's a personal perference. You have yet to state a reason that will hold up in court. With that logic, we should outlaw religion too.
