I'm just guessing here. I know that dictionaries are sold at Trade cities and the first one of those is Dorter. So if you can buy dictionaries at Dorter in Ch.1 (the part I'm not sure about), then the Zeklaus Desert story battle (Sand Rats Cellar or Cellar of the Sand Mouse) is the first battle where you could use a dictionary??

The problem with that is that they don't sell dictionaries until chapter 2. Like Longbows at Igros.
So My answer is the 1st batle of chapter 2.

Indeed he does, however thats chapter 3 if I remember correctly and you can have oracles equip them before that. But you are right in thats the first battle where on is used manditorily.

If you can only buy Dictionaries from trade cities and the first battle is in Dorter Trade City, then you can buy Dictionaries after the battle and use them in Araguay Woods.
