Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I were as great as Paulo Wanchope.
This is an interesting matchup, because it shows a lot about the people voting.
People who voted for Calvin and Hobbes appreciate one of the greatest comic strips ever written/drawn, and look forward to seeing this complex relationship applied to two of their fellow forumgoers.

I didn't vote for my favoured cartoon, I voted for the duo that had more obvious personalities. There are so many sides to Calvin & Hobbes that it would be too difficult to pick out a member to match him in general. With Garfield & Odie, you've got the dry sarcastic type with a hidden soft spot and then you've got odie, the dumbass.

So being picked as Odie means that person basically won the "Biggest Dumbass of EoFF" Ciddie.
Or perhaps we thought Garfield and Odie might be an entertaining matchup? I'm not religious, but I still thought that Adam and Eve/David and Goliath would have been damned good matchups. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but I didn't vote for Threepio and Artoo because I felt they wouldn't be interesting enough.
Also, I feel there's far more chance of me getting votes as Odie.
