I got my tongue pierced several months ago with a few of my friends (my first piercing of any kind) the guy we paid to do it had us hold some listerine in our mouths for a few minutes to act as a very mild anesthetic .. not sure if it did anything but surprisingly it didn't hurt THAT bad. Anyway if you want it I think it'd be foolish to let the fear of pain hold you back when it just lasts a second or two.
