Censorship in Pm's

I was talking with siric today and somewhere in a pm i said . just . The worst part about it being censored is that the smileys dont come up its just lines of code. What words are censored?

So my main question is why are our private messages being censored? I can understand F-Bombs being censored but why ?

Might be lines of code because html is probably disabled in PMs which is used to show the images The censor is a blanket censor, and I doubt any of us can/will be bothered to hack the boards to make PMs exempt

I remember when I sent a PM to blox with a crapload of swear words (it was copy/pasted from a hidden LJ entry I had made) and he cracked up laughing when he got it because it had more skulls than letters. I dont think I'll ever hear the end of that one. Good times. xD I have to admit it definitely cheered me up.

Sorry, though, the censor system operates all over the forums, including PM's and other non-post areas.

We can't just uncensor PMs without uncensoring the whole board.

As for your last question, I don't know. We used to just censor the f-word, but recently the s-word was added. Is it that big of a deal though?

And if you don't, I propose we make one. Or modify the English language somewhat. I once went to a board with an aggressive filter which would mangle the word "cockroach"

Hence "roach" took on a new meaning in that board's slang...
