Well I don't know about play styles, but I'm just saying that considering that you can draw all the best magics and that you don't even have to refine, GF's are uneccessary. Their only real purpose is for battle and junctioning. Now in battle you can either summon them and look retarded boosting.LOL or you could junction well and kick ass with out ever using any magic.
