I would never. I've seen people on my server roleplaying through the engagement with emotes and chatting on the /say channel about it and it's really just plain too wierd for me. I've also seen some of these same people "break up" and be very nasty to each other and/or heartbroken. I recall a time I was fishing off the cliff in Windy Woods and some guy had purposely let himself die of poison by the fountain in an attempt at describing as vividly as possible just how badly he didn't want to marry this other player he had been "engaged" to. She sat by his body and waited, casting raise on him several times. When other players would walk by she would shout rudely at her and throw a fit. At first I believed it was all for show until I got a tell from the guy assuring me that she was quite serious. When I told a couple others they actually went and sat on his corpse and started a conversation amongst themselves, ignoring her ranting and raving, until she went as far as trying to call a GM on them. One of the funniest things I've ever seen, for sure, but MAN that was creepy all the same.

An acquaintance of mine is engaged to another acquaintance of mine in real life. When North Americans were finally allowed to get married, those two were the first to get married on Midgardsormr. I was invited to the wedding, and, yeah, I went. It cost me a Teleport-Altep scroll for the bride.
The whole wedding seemed incredibly scripted, and almost like it wasn't those two talking. I found out later that when you're going to get married, the GM that's in charge of the ceremony makes both of the soon-to-be-newlyweds make macros from a script. It's just creepy when one minute the bride's like, "lol guys this is gonna be fun" to "I do cherish and honor my husband. I will stay with him forever. Please accept this ring as a token of our oath."

It sounds weird. I might do it for fun sometime but I hate when you see two people playing the game sitting on each others lap somewhere trying to be romantic, its corny. I alwyas go and sit on top of both of them, usually resulting in flames but occasionally "lols" and "xD".
