Thread: Am I the only one that didn't like Chrono Cross?

Default Am I the only one that didn't like Chrono Cross?

Now, now don't bite my face off or anything it's just my unimportant opinion. I was so in love with the battle system, and the story and the world were all groovy too, and I really didn't expect TOO many ties to Trigger since after so long direct sequels aren't usually made but... Man, when your main character is going to go the mute route, I just think he needs a good 6-7 strong supporting cast to keep my interest. With 40 or so people running around joining my team I didn't care about the story or for anyone save for Serge and Kid, and Kid not only gets poisoned and taken out of my party once, but then shortly thereafter is taken out again for 90% of the game (in a sense). Bugger >_< Anyway I'm not sure why I'm bringing this ruckus up NOW so just ignore me.

I understand your complaint but the Chrono series was never about the characters so much as it was the story and the world. It was just that much more evident in Chrono Cross.

I would argue that 50% of the characters got development enough and that, just like the story, you have to look deeper to find out who they are.

I didn't care much for the characters either but I viewed them as pawns that got moved about by higher forces and thus are unimportant in the overall aspect of the story.

I loved Chrono Trigger. It is one of my favorite games ever.

But Chrono Cross isn't that great. In fact, I can't even complete it because it doesn't captivate me the way CT did.

I'm at the part when you have to find the dragons, and I have given up there. I beat CT many times, but CC just didn't do it for me.

It's an okay game, and I can see why people like it. I just personally don't.

    Here's the math:

    CT > CC
    CC > many other RPGs

Ergo CT > CC > many other RPGs > Daikatana > Plucking your eyebrows > Purgatory > Hell > Macclesfield
There is no signature here. Move along.

I liked Crono Cross. It was okay. I didn't like all of the characters. I stopped liking Kid a long ways back and ever since I saw him, I ha been after Glenn. (I love his and Serge renamed Manoa's special attack) And I used Orlha, named Tifa and Chevelle. Often I'd use Draggy or razzy, and I was upset that if you didn't accept to get the cure, which I didn;t, you couldn't get the cute faerie girl. But hey, what can you do?

    Isn't Kid a girl?

And also, isn't (SPOILER)Glenn from CC the same Glenn that became Frog in CT? I mean, the connections between the two games are just wild, you know.

That would make him about 440 years old, not to mention the fact that they have different elements. So, no.

Yeah, yeah, time travel. But the statement still stands, Glenn in CC is named after Glenn, the hero of Guardia.

Personaly I think Crono Cross had Amazingly great CG movies and Awsome Music.

Personaly I had only 2 Complaints.

#1 They Butchered the Crono Series Story.... the Games tried to connect to each other and ended up horribly.

#2 Crafting your own Weapons... Finding the Items to create better Weapons..... Thats one of the Same Reasons I didnt Like FF8.

I tried playing Chrono Cross a while back, but ater playing it for a couple hours, I didn't find it that great.

Maybe I just need to play it some more or something, but it just doesn't seem to measure up to Chrono Trigger.

The ending blew chunks, and some of the characters like, oh, NeoFio and Skelly and Mojo and Turnip were awful, but I honestly found the entire first disc of the game to be the most rewarding gaming experience I've ever gone through on the PlayStation, with the sole exception of Suikoden II.

I'm about 15 hours into it, and am thoroughly enjoying the experience thus far. The game exudes more style and personality than most RPGs.
