I don't want be a huge complainer, but that's just the way it is. The Ciddies continue to prove that point.[/q]
I completly concur. I got one nomination, but it was automatic, so I don't count it...I was gone for 3 months, and I don't think my absence was particullarly noticed. Likewise, everybody I notice, and nominate, etc., are all people who have really big, distincitve personalities...that's just the way it is on a site as big as this...you have to do something; a lot, to be noticed.
Grab the opportunities life hands you, that's my motto!
I agree. Although I have been nominated twice (for most likley to be unrecognised memeber, and best spammer (which frankly baffles me)) but I've had little to no chance of winning them.Originally Posted by bennator

I know who did that. I also know who nominated White Raven for Best Male.Originally Posted by Maxico

You actually put that really well. I was on the bus today thinking about it, and I likened it to the world of music - there are a lot of events, but it's very unlikely that you're going to get nominted in the MTV awards without doing something noticable first - and that doesn't mean just singing well, oddly enough.Originally Posted by bennator
But it doesn't always have to be a big thing - sometimes it's the small things that count around the Ciddies. For example, bennator, when you made that 'Sidease = Striptease' post, it made me laugh a little, but for some reason it's still something I'm noticing every time I see Sidease as well now. xD Good job.
BUT! Back to action - and it's been quite a big day in the votes, obviously - but I never expected this much! In 23 hours, I've received 1910 votes from 42 members! Keep in mind that during nominations, it took about 12 days to come up with that many nominations. Thanks to all the first-day voters, and hopefully I'll get more as the week goes on.
I think I'll also add that, as I watch the votes come in, the Ciddies NEVER fail to surprise me. A couple of dark horses out there are really going strong in some of the awards.![]()

The records for voting are massive - 3467 votes from 87 members. The amount of members in particular is huge, considering the record before that was 3453 votes from 77 members. However, a fair few of those members were tie-breakers.![]()
I voted for Baloki every chance I got, I'm pretty sure.
Wait, am I allowed to say that?

PS: Don't vote Baloki...once. Vote him twice! Thrice! Maybe even 13 times! *eagerly awaits the death list*![]()

I know what you mean about the whole making a personality for yourself, there are in fact hundreds of members who don't even get nominated each year, the reason for this is that they don't post outside the FF forums, now this isn't a bad thing because not everyone is deserving of praise (See Baloki for example), but it kind of shows that only those that day in, day out go around making a concious effort to post in their own style in large amounts seem to actually get nominated. You see these people who say, oh I wasn't nominated for this and that and I should have been, maybe its because over the last month or so they haven't said anything memorable to stick their name in anyones mind. Luckly for you guys I just went through the 50 latest members to join and nominated them :P
Edit: I read that Psy *I'm sharpening my knife Kupo!*

Commentary time.
Hello hello! I am Agent Proto, and I'm here to make some commentaries on the current EoY Ciddies '04! First off, these commentaries will come in a series of five, with each commentary focusing on ten awards.
First off, we'll be focusing on the last ten, which are very well known as the "Most Likely To" Awards. Now, let's see what the MLT Awards are.
Most Likely To…
41) Become a Cid's Knight
Baloki
Bert
Czech. Republic
eestlinc
o_O
ShlupMoo
The Captain
Well, here's this, and we have The Captain with a bunch of familiar names, and some new finalists too, which includes the legendary face, o_O. Anyway, The Captain doesn't have much a challenge to make another win, but he does have quite a challenge with eestlinc, so I predict that the two will make this race a tight one between The Captain and eestlinc, with o_O making a serious run to make this one a three way. Proto's Prediction: The Captain.
42) Get Banned
>>--heartshot--> ♥
Carnage
Czech. Republic
DMKA
edczxcvbnm
Linus
princeofdarknez
Psychotic
ShlupMoo
The last winner, HOOTERS, is not around to make it into the finals, as he is actually banned! Crazy, isn't he the one with three straight wins for this? Anyway, that makes this race for the Banned title a tight one. >>--heartshot--> ♥, or Tokki, has been getting quite a bit of trouble in EoEO. She has a shot at winning, but there's also challenge between the crazy mofo named edczxcvbnm and a former great named Linus. However, there are several other finalists which could make this race too close to call for anyone. Proto's Prediction: Linus
43) Sell Out
Bert
Denmark
edczxcvbnm
Joel
MecaKane
ShlupMoo
ShlupQuack
Xander
Six regular members and two staffers. Has the Shlups both sold out or what? Well, I don't know too much about this race, but big names such as ShlupQuack, ShlupMoo, Xander and edczxcvbnm will likely make this race have a surprise winner. There is no clear cut winner among the finalists. None at all. However, the four big names will probably make the most impact. Proto's Prediction: ShlupQuack
44) Win A Ciddie For The Very First Time
Bert
Denmark
Dixie
Giga Guess
Kirobaito
Levian
Trumpet Thief
A bunch of first-timers in this race, however, only a few will probably do some damage to take it to the final run. Bert is the only finalist who've been a member the longest, so he may be the winner. Proto's Prediction: Bert.
45) Get hit by a bus
Joel
Loony BoB
MecaKane
Ouch!
Triple T
Trumpet Thief
This MLT is a joke. Joel has been winning this award for so long that seeing a new winner will be a big surprise. However, with MecaKane and Ouch! on the same page, this may turn out close. Joel should have little to no problem clinching this. Proto's Prediction: Joel.
46) Be driving the bus
Doomgaze
Doomsday
Dr Unne
Misfit
Ouch!
Psychotic
Wyllius
Wyllius has also been winning this award. In fact, he probably has the longest going streak with most wins for this award. However, he has several challengers, with one named Doomgaze. The other Doom, Doomsday, also poses a problem. However, it may be too close to call, but I think the streak has to end, and now seems like a good time. Proto's Prediction: Doomgaze.
47) Bring a Fishing Rod to a Car Pool
Denmark
Joel
kikimm
Matty Pie!
Meat Puppet
This is one of those awards you don't want to win, but alas, we have some finalists probably worthy of it. =) Of course, it's all in good fun. The serious contenders would be Denmark, Joel, and Meat Puppet, while the others are there because of nominations. We'll see a tight race among the three contenders for this award. Proto's Prediction: Meat Puppet.
48) Be Calvin
Baloki
Calvin
Dr Unne
Spaceman Spiff
Takara
Who doesn't want to be Calvin? Well, there's probably two finalists that may take this away from the others. However, one is Calvin, and the other would be his alter-ego, Spaceman Spiff. Both are very worthy, but only one could win this, and it'll come down to a very tight race. Proto's Prediction: Calvin.
49) Be Hobbes
Del Murder
Denmark
Dr Unne
Endless
Jebus
Loony BoB
RSL
ShlupMoo
And here we have, Calvin's tiger doll, Hobbes. The ever so philosophical doll which comes to life, but only seen by Calvin. Which of the finalists is most likely to be Hobbes? Well, we have several deemed finalists. Jebus, Endless, and Del Murder. However, when RSL's around, that could be trouble. However, RSL is cuddly and lovable so he may make an upset here. In fact, I put my say into it. Proto's Prediction: RSL.
50) Get Together
Czech. Republic & Levian
Del Murder & eestlinc
Joel & MecaKane
MecaKane & Misfit
Misfit & Shoyku
And finally, the last Ciddies. With Joel & MecaKane making a surprise return as the winners of the summer edition of the Ciddies. However, we have a bit of challenge for them, as Misfit & Shoyku, formerly an EoFF Couple, and Del Murder & eestlinc. In fact, it may turn out to be too close to call among the three. Proto's Prediction: Del Murder & eestlinc.
And there you have it. Part One of Agent Proto's The End Of Year Ciddies, 2004 Commentary Series. Whatever I say is my opinion, and my predictions are just that. Predictions. Most of them will turn out false, but that's the fun of predicting. =) If you have any problems or questions regarding this post, give me a PM. =)
Proto, Denmark has been a member longer than Bert. I'd PM you, BUT THE PUBLIC HAS A RIGHT TO KNOW!
I love both Den and Bert, incidentally.![]()
