    Default Princess Mononoke

I loved it and now questions
    Who else loved it?
Who thinks that there should be a sequel?
What'd you think about the characters?
Who were the most underatted and overatted characters?

Me! I loved it. awesome movie.

There should be a sequel, but without all the great huge animal gods, what would they do?

I liked all the characters, in particular I liked Akoto the Boar. followed closely by Yakul. I guess A<img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/lovesmile.gif>aka would be a distant third... And I think somebody other than Gillian Anderson should have done the voice of Marro. She sounded... just... odd.

    most overrated character: Karoku.

most underrated: the kudama. hey. if you have only 2 brain cells and when you shake your head and they rattle around, I think you should get a much bigger part than running around, dying, and then running again.

EDIT: weird. the forum censored the main character's name. Just goes to show how he wasn't as good as Akoto. Or Yakul.

I never did answer. SORRY! Obviously loved it. Yes, yes, sequel, yes. I wonder what would happen if Ashi, shoortened, would return home? I thought the general was funny looking, he reminded me of somebody from Ninja Scroll. I thuoght Sen's wolves were hilarious and deadly at the same time and Yakul is sexy. Overatted, Karoku, funny, but unnescary. Underated; Yakul, do you know how many times he's saved Ashi's life? and Kudama, they are the best. I'm surently searching for the keychains

well, I uh, wouldn't go so far as to say that Yakul was sexy... but hey! if you go for the Rudolph look, people have the right to do whatever makes them happy.

I just noticed, however, that the name Sen has popped up now in at least 2 of Miyazaki's movies. wonder what it means?

Yeah...the whole rudolph thing is hot :elk:
I knew what it meant when I first saw the movie, but I forgot now. Maybe it's some sort of subliminal message or something? (shifts eyes around the room) What other movie? I forgot now. Stupid me

That's what it was. When I saw that movie, I remember thinking, "hey, that's the name from PM," But it soon left my mind...I 'll ask my cousin what Sen means since she's in love with the movie

    (Any others?)

I watched it but I couldn't get into it. It was kind of confusing. I liked spirited away, though.

I loved it!! Especially the music. The song Legend of Ashi-taka, just overwhelms me
It doesn't matter what any of us is looking for,we'll never find it,
    because it's not even there

In my opinion, I thought it was one of the greatest films ever put to the screen because it captured so completely several central themes to life:

    Tolerance of others/fear of difference
The struggle between human and nature
    Technology versus nature
    Love
    Internal conflict/external conflict
    Honor
Life/Death - Manifested so perfectly in the Forest Spirit

    Just to name a few.

What I most enjoyed about the film is the quiet moments it had, where it allowed shots to breathe and develop for themselves, much like real life. We don't always have action happening in a common rhythm, but are often filled with moments of slience and then sudden bursts of action. Two shots in particular stood out for this: when the rain first starts hitting the stones and eventually drenches them, and when Ashi first sees the Forest Spirit, as both are so graceful.

I also thought the ending was wonderful and would actually prefer there to not be a sequel as I thought it ended perfectly, with a love that was not just practical, but also made so much sense.

I think everyone should spend the time to really sit down and watch the film. It's central message, "To see with eyes unclouded by hate" is surely an important one in this world.

    Take care all.

It is a rather good movie, and The Captain's above statements are rather on the mark, as always. The character of Ashi'taka is interesting because he does not wish for violence, yet has such great power to destroy. It is about what one expects from the genius that is Hayao Miyazaki.

Yes it is a great movie and kOdamas (at least Miyazaki's interpretation of them) are the cutest god damn things ever to be created. But there defenatly shouldnt be a sequal. The ending was just perfect.

It was....amazing, to say the least. I really, really liked it, and if I don't unwrap it in about 3 weeks, I'll go out and get it ASAP. The only things that really bothered me were some of the voices. Sen (or was it San?...meh) 's voice in particular bothered me.....Claire Danes didn't exactly do it right, but that was very minor.

I thought, before I watched it, that it was going to be something completely different, but I was surprised---in a good way, of course. It really made me think...and I hope that by watching it, some people will realize that these aren't just cartoons anymore.
