The only advent calendar I heard of before seeing this topic was one in some LoTR fanfiction. :P

I can still have chocolate every day 'til Christmas and know the date without an advent calendar. I'm one upping the Brits! Ha.

Yes, Americans have Advent Calendars. But I've never had one with chocolate. Or anything edible. Just pictures. Yep.

Haven't had one in years though, as it was mostly a childhood thing.

We just re-use the same one every year. You open windows and doors in a Christmas vilage to see who's inside. I don't pay much attention to it.

An advent calendar is a calendar with stuff in it you get every day like candy, chocolate, or if it's a terrible one just holiday related pictures.
