This is false, I've had Fights two steps from each other, as well as fights 20 steps from each other.
I didn't come up with the idea, but since you want to say that, I checked it out. The way I am almost certain it works now is that you have random encounters if you do not have encounter-none on. Whether you have encounter none on or not, there are set encounters at each platform. I can see why people would have thought there were certain number of steps between each encounter though as if you just walk straight to Ultima, you wouldn't notice. (if you walk around on one of the platforms no encounters come though) There are SET encounters though that regenerate when you leave the screen.
There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

I use Demi to defeat that mobile weapon at level 38 combining it with triple.

It's quite hard but not that hard though.

It is often encouraged to level up as little as possible in FFVIII, but I don't see a problem with it AS LONG as you manage your Junctioning properly. If you put no focus on Junctioning (say you don't know how) and level up, you'll die around Raijin and Fujin in Balamb *guilty*.

As long as you learn to junction and continue to draw more powerful spells there is no real need to gain levels. The monsters difficulty's are based on your level so leveling is really not worthwhile. At the same time you need to gather AP to train your GF's. So it's a two-edged sword. Fighting gets you AP and makes you GF's better, but in leveling your characters the enemies get stronger.
The older I get, the more money I make. The more money I make the cheaper I get. How the heck does this work?

That's why you equip the stat boost abilities.

best of both worlds. you're stronger than the monsters and can easily draw the high up spells

That would be much easier than if all your characters where at high levels.

Nope, it's not false. It's true. The battles are fixed in the crystal place.

No. It's "EASY" to win "ANY" battle in FFVIII at "ANY" level.

the only battles in FF8 that are hard are the end of disc 3 battles and 4 Ultima weapon was the prototype for the ultimate creation but it was failed and became mega strong i think Omega and Ultima arent very much different though what if they combined intoone weapon errr Death weapon Light pillar megido flame mega speed and attack that would be the perfect boss. now back on track the only hard parts of ff8 are the big bosses nearing disc 3 middle, dont level up too much till you get to ultima weapon as getting high levels near the end of the game is a good idea. i was level 25 before disc 3 now im messin bouts with disc 4 and im level 73. never level up till you get to the part where you have control of the ragnarok. if you dont get at least to level 68 your doomed through disc 4 as your gaining levels you should be gaining magic, items and AP so you should prepare for disc 4 round abouts then by getting all GFs and batling big monsters.

Final Fantasy 8 isnt much of a hard game you think its so easy untill disc 3 end you think holy crap wth happened! then disc 4 you go beserk andshoot your Ps/2 model to bits and throw your discs out the window
