The reason for the season

I think you should add Traditional way to the list. It's a warm happy medium between Commercial and Religious and that's where I like to be. I like the giving and receiving of gifts and the fact that everyone goes to see family and has a nice big dinner. I accept it as a traditional holiday rather than a religious one, and because I don't buy into the commercialisation ie, spending hundreds of quid on crappy lights and giant snowmen, I don't celebrate it as a commercial holiday either. It's all about tradition for me.

I'm kinda with Doc Sark. I'm Christian, so I celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus and such. With Christmas Eve candlelit services at church, etc. But it is also about the family tradition for me. Everyone gets to be together and eat and exchange gifts. All of us grandkids get up and go have Christmas Eve breakfast with our grandparents, which has always been fun. And the Saturday before Christmas we all go with my other set of grandparents to Natchitoches to watch their big fireworks display, not to mention the gator-on-a-stick. Mmmm. So, while it is very religious for me, family and tradition is very important too.

Someone told me that Santa's outfit was changed from green to red so that he would fit in with the Coca Cola adverts and products. That might be a rumour, but I know a few people who believe it as fact! And I'm sure we all know that Jesus wasn't even born in December, so Christmas seems pretty darn commercialized to me.

I would add an option for a little of both but I don't have superpowers here. It's more religous but some commercial for me. My Mom is really religous and I'm Christian so thats the way it was. Not having very much money growing up helped that along too.

Anyway, I really enjoy Christmas, as a time for family, and enjoying the company of those close to you.
