Okay, so I've decided to create my own posts. So this is good... I used to be the biggest heavyweight in all of the world. Earthworm Dethroned me, but I'm still one tough puppy & dish out tougher attacks than him. Who am I? I'm also a reg monster, not a boss moster. (Although I'm tough enough to be called one.)

Sandworm is way down from Earthworm. Also sandworm wasn't a boss in FFX. Do I have to tell you the answer or will someone else take a crack at it?

You're so close! The monster's in that area, & is a little bigger (and tougher) than Admantnoise. Hint: He inflicts poison upon you as one of his status effects. Being banned from Yevon caused him to turn into this form. (Old Yevon, not New Yevon.)
