Grippal and Rikku?

In the game before Grippal disappears he said that he and rikku used to be a couple or something like that and Rikku said it wasen't true. so was there ever anything between them?? someone please tell me because i'm almost done with the game i'm about to go to the farplane and i don't think i'll find out there.

There is a slight possibility something may have happened between them, but I think it's safe to assume there was something (go to Djose Temple during chapter 3 (before it becomes a Hotspot) to see Rikku acting very nervous around Gippal, something which is very out of character for her). There are also a few exchanges during the final sequence that would suggest the two of them have a history.

go to Luca, were the fake-laughing sceen was, and follow the moogle, you should find out a little about R&G at the end of that sequence. . . I think
