Im playing FF1 DoS and i cant buy Lv 5 magics it says magic level not high enough. It says i can get it as a mage so i dont know whats wrong. My people are all at Lv 19. Thanks for the help.

the thing in the shop just says if you can get it eventually. When it says magic level not high enough, it means it. You need to be higher levels to get level 5 white magic. I believe you can get lv. 5 black magic already, I am about in the same spot as you I think. Melmond?
Just press start and look at your mage's stats. It should say her magic level. When it says 5, you can buy level 5. This is the feature they put in to reproduce what happens in the original version. In the original, you gained spell points in a particular magic level when you leveled up. If you didn't have spell points in a level (one s. p. corresponding to one cast of a spell), you couldn't use that magic. simple, eh?

All the more reason to play the NES version. Just cause you can't cast a spell doesn't mean you can't know how.
