I must be the reason Flamethrower said "almost." I may be a Cloti, but in this thread I supported both Aeris and Tifa.

What's wrong with liking both of them? They were both important to the story and both had likable personalities.

and wtf @ Yuffie getting like 10 votes in last day or so?
"both had likable personalities - No, not everyone found them both likable. I couldn't stand Aeris for the life of me. She was constantly throwing herself at my character (aka Cloud) and it really annoyed me. I found her to be easily the most annoying character in the game, and would have liked her a lot more if she would have just left Cloud alone, although the story might have lost out a bit for it. Just because they make a good story doesn't mean they aren't annoying.

For starters Aerith's limits are more versatile than Tifa's in the sense that unlike Tifa attacking isn't all that she can do. With Aerith there are choices. Aerith can cast offensive status spells, cast support status spells, cure status effects, revive allies, completely restore hit points and magic points, make everyone in the battle party invincible.
Yes, her limits are more versatile than everyone elses'. However, every other part about her wasn't.

I don't call the potential to hit for 9999 before anyone else does incredibly weak physically
But if you want to keep her alive, you have to put her in the back row, so she doesn't do nearly as much damage.

Also the Umbrella can be obtained the first time the party visits the Gold Saucer meaning that if you get it then Aerith has the strongest weapon possible to have in the inventory at that time in the game and it will have a higher attack power than any of the other characters weapons for quite a while
As long as you keep her in the front row and don't mind her dying to some of the tougher bosses.

Ok so that's four times xD Still not constantly
When she's only with you for part of one disc, four times is plenty.

How about the times Tifa romances Cloud?
When did Tifa romance Cloud? Never!

Aerith was indeed irrational at times. So was Tifa such as at the time she rushed off into the mountains as a child and the time she tried to get revenge on Sephiroth.
Tifa was irrational out of anger and hatred. She had just witnessed the massacre of her family and friends, and wanted revenge. It was justified irrationality.
Aeris, on the other hand, has no excuse, except for being a brat.

Also Raist why are you using an avatar of Yuna from FFX-2? xDDD Knowing some of the things you've said about that game it's creeping me out that you're using an avatar of a character from it xDDD~
Notice my title? Yeah, the admins(re: BooB and Shlup) have been messing with my profile.

Without limits the same can be said about the other characters xD

But if you want to keep her alive, you have to put her in the back row, so she doesn't do nearly as much damage.
I remove Aerith from the back row as soon as I can *and* put her in Fury as soon as I can and still have no problems keeping her alive in battles during normal playthroughs. When I play FFVII Aerith dies no more or less than any of the other characters in battles. In fact she often takes less damage than other characters since she has higher defensive stats and nowadays she only dies in challenges that I'm inexperienced at playing. However the same can be said of Tifa who I'm currently having more trouble than Aerith with on a solo character game. Compared to the trouble I'm having with Tifa Aerith breezed through battles in solo mode.

As long as you keep her in the front row and don't mind her dying to some of the tougher bosses.
What tougher bosses? Again Aerith in my experience dies no more or less to them than the other characters. The disc one bosses can be push overs even the final boss of disc one too

When she's only with you for part of one disc, four times is plenty.
Pfffffft There were many other events on disc one compared to those scenes

When did Tifa romance Cloud? Never!
    O_O

I'm more rusty on storyline details than the abilities of the characters in battle but off hand asking Cloud for a flower, reminding Cloud of their promise, the Highwind events. Tifa did so show she had feelings for Cloud

Tifa was irrational out of anger and hatred. She had just witnessed the massacre of her family and friends, and wanted revenge. It was justified irrationality.
Yes Tifa's actions can be reasoned away and if someone was saying Tifa was the suckiest character ever because of those actions I myself would reason them away. However reasons can also be given for Aerith's actions. I'm not saying Tifa is a bad character by saying she can be irrational just saying that her irrationality exists.

Aeris, on the other hand, has no excuse, except for being a brat.
    *thwack*

I have excuses for her actions

Michi, if a guy you know was to walk into your place with a flower, I would hope you'd figure out that the flower is for you. Tifa asking if the flower was for her was a natural response. As for remembering the promise, that's romancing on the lightest of levels. Tifa is incredibly, incredibly shy. Saying she romanced Cloud by remembering a memory is like saying you've romanced me by talking about when I went over to your place - its just a memory. OR MAYBE... Michi! I NEVER KNEW!

The way I see it is that Aerith is mostly magic/healer, while(almost?) everyone else is strength. So equip her with the magic, the others can attack and she use magic.

Are you reading this Aaron *hint hint*?

Tifa asking if the flower was for her was a natural response.
A girl asking a boy she likes if he has bought a flower for her and then the boy giving her the flower is romantic yes?

As for remembering the promise, that's romancing on the lightest of levels.
I suppose it depends on how you view the scene. Some people think the promise scene is very romantic and that it is amongst the scenes that show Cloud and Tifa's feelings for each other. A boy and girl making a promise under a starry night sky, I can see the potential for romance there

    Tifa is incredibly, incredibly shy.
    Awwwwww

    Yes she is

    xDDD

I wasn't able to say that you told me that you'd promised to protect me, to be my hero and that you now needed to keep that promise was I though I believe it was a memory that was special to Tifa, a memory of where a boy had promised to be her hero. That boy was now a man and she wanted him to stay so she brought up a special memory to convince him I think

It's the boy romancing the girl, not Tifa romancing Cloud. Yes!

Again, it's Cloud that made the promise - he was romancing HER, she never romanced HIM.

SO ALL THAT MEANT NOTHING TO YOU? ;______________; *die*

Seriously, though, Cloud romances her, not the other way around.

Whereas Aeris is like "KISS ME, LOVE ME, HAVE MY BABY AND FORGET ABOUT TIFA, IT'S ME YOU WANT, GIVE ME BABY, LOVE HUNGER LUST OH GOD ZACK I MEAN CLOUD, GIVE IT TO ME, YES.", which to be fair isn't really romancing, it's more just blatantly trying to get into his pants! :o

No, seriously. Me and my friends are voting for Barret and we can't vote twice. Do I need to IM some of my other friends?

Well, as long as your "friends" aren't you with a different username.

Seriously, I don't think battousai is voting under different user names, but how do we know someone isn't doing that? It's got nothing to do with your computer; I use more than one computer under the same username, and it doesn't let me vote 3 times.
