I think paing to play game you bought is silly. At least the game should be free, as it is unusable if you don't pay the monthly fee anyway.

When the games stop charging for online stuff is when I'll start playing them.

*goes back to playing WC3:FF and Diablo 2 online*

Heh, then I guess you'll never be playing them then.

Do you think tech maintenance on the servers you play WoW on is free? That bandwidth is free? That the physical servers appeared out of thin air and didn't cost anything, complete with cabling and a lot of disk space?

Do you think that the game masters work for free? That the designers who add quests/levels/characters/dungeons/etc... do it for free?

Do you think that distributing the game in a box/colector's box costs $0 to Blizzard?

Did any of you (besides DG and SC) actually read the pricing info?

    And then there is Death

With some mmorpg the price reduces for different payment plans. Like pay 1/2 of a year ahead and only play $10 a month.

WoW doesn't get quite that cheap, but that was the low end of the price range I mentioned. $14.99 if you pay by the month, however.

I did not and most likely never will as I never plan on buying the game. If it really costs $15 a month then that's fine as it is right where the other games are at. I just found it to be stupid to charge $30 when all the other games are $15. And guild wars has all that good stuff you mentioned and it will be free to play online

as far as I know, Guild Wars plans on supporting itself by pumping out expansions (called chapters) like there's no tomorrow. I may be wrong, though.

    Default Q

Which would suck just as much as a monthly charge does.

Anyway, WoW will just be the new EverQuest. Everyone will flock too it, which I'm grateful for, because the first peoples' attention that it will grab are the losers from other MMORPGs, so a better Ultima Online world for me.

People will play it, and within about 8 months to a year, people will begin to realize it sucks and that it's EQ with just a different name and no one has fun and that the only people that still play are completely obsessed and sleep-deprived. I know. I was once a sleep-deprived obsessed person playing EQ(played for about 8 months). Then I logged on UO once and realized how much else there is to playing an MMORPG than money and levels and items. Though it is occasionally sleep-depriving.

If you get addicted to it, then paying regularly will seem like nothing. Just like crack!

Indeed, it felt like nothing while I played EQ. However, also like crack, most people eventually wake up from the drug-induced haze and realize what retards they've been.

    No, I have not.

If this is true, though, it might be worth braving the unwashed masses to really rip Wal-Mart off.
