I'm so tired of it. I don't know what people have against rap. Yes, I know some of you baffoons will say "Well, what about you hating anime?" I hate anime for legit reasons. The only reasons I hear people speak of rap is "Oh, it's just bad poetry" or "Anyone associated with Eminem sucks." Yeah, thanks for your "enlightening" comments.

Most of you who hate rap are the most immature people I know. Rap is not my main form of listening music, I still prefer alternative/rock. But I always see rock-music people bashing on rap more than any other group. Not even country music fans bash rap as much as you "white-Americans" as Eminem likes to call them. That wasn't meant as a racist remark, I'm only quoting Eminem. But he's right, most of what I observed is that upper to middle-class White-Americans are more against rap than any other group of people I know.

I'm not saying rap fans don't bash you rock fans, but I hear more negativity from rock-fans towards rap than rap fans towards rock. It's stupid really. I don't listen to country music, I don't like it. But I don't hate it. Some of you rock-fans needs to listen to some Bone or Biggie, I swear...you guys just refuse to give anything a chance.

Some rap-haters have legit reasons. Obviously this hasn't been considered.

Rap is catchy, and a good listen sometimes, but I really don't consider it music. The rappers are good song writters occasionally.

I like Eminem actually, his songs are good, but the rappers that constantly talk about some girls ass are very irritating. A good example of a terrible rap song is Snoop Dogg and Pharrel's Drop it like it's Hot. It's like:

agreein. also for the record, rock singers who whine about how horrible life is and how everything is breaking down sorta get on you after a while too.

I'm not saying that. I don't care if people don't like rap, I can accept that. All the reasons for hating rap is stupid. People assume it's just about guys talking about "booty" and "guns." Not like that at all. But I take it you took offense to what I said. But the next time people talk about how rap is all about booty, rock is really just all about people pretending to be depressed and how they have it so bad in life. Please. It's the pot calling the kettle black all over again.



I know that rap doesn't require too much talent(other than R&B, what mainstream music these days does?), but it's not like rap is just "<img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif><img src=http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif> you whores" or "Imma kill you". At least you can understand what they're saying.

I can't even understand what the hell rock bands play most of the times because of all that screaming and mindless electric guitar playing.

If anyone has heard bands play acoustically, THEY ARE GOD AWFUL. With very few exceptions, bands obviously cannot play the right notes on acoustics if their lives depended on it.

But there are some bands that I adore like Five For Fighting or U2. There isn't a young band alive today that can hold a candle with U2. And no, don't compare Coldplay to U2...not unless you consider U2 dull, boring, and pretentious also.

While I don't like most rap, I would say 35% of it is good music. I never liked Snoop's music, never liked Dr. Dre, never liked Kanye West, and Shaggy is just plain horrible. But Bone, Biggie, and 2Pac were always my favorite rap artists. Bone especially. With their R&B tinged speed rap as someone perfectly described, it's truly unique.

Anyone who listened to Bone's "Crossroads" will most likely never say all rap sucks.

So for all you haters, go to hell.

The style is repetetive, the lyrics are often vulgar and crude, and I dislike the overall way the music is executed. I am a fan of classical music, and rap does not in any way, shape or form, appeal to me. I hate it with a passion.

There are a lot of people that dislike rap for legitimate reasons. Yeah, there are people out there that hate rap just for the sake of hating it, but for the most part, the people that hate rap have good reasons for hating it.

I dislike new rap. Give me old rap, like MC Hammer and Puffy from the good ol' days, then I'll listen to it constantly. The majority of new rap, nowadays, is about killing/beating people, sex, and drugs and the rappers are usually only speed-talking with a base and snare drum playing in the background with an additional computer generated tune. I like my music with actual instruments playing and with singers that sing more than one tune. I also like lyrics that aren't just about murdering people. If you like rap, terrific. You have your tastes and I'll have mine.

For the record, most bands have a DJ that generates music. So please, don't just put it on rap songs that have computer generated beats.

All music is repetitve, not one single genre isn't. So saying rap is repetitive while others is not is just bias.

And for rap singing only one tune, what makes that different from rock bands? Has anyone ever heard Linkin Park live acoustically? Anyone ever heard Creed Live acoustically? Good Charlotte? Hoobastank? Yellowcard? Bowling For Soup? They ALL stink. They couldn't hit an octave to save their lives. Some like Five For Fighting are great, and Green Day is decent enough that I'll listen to acoustically. At least U2 admits to being so-so acoustic players. So all these comparisons about how rap these days is just a single tune and repetitve beat is just the same thing with rock, country, alternative, and R&B.

While most rap is probably about drugs, sex, and violence...what about rock music? It's mostly about how life sucks and suicide. Please. If you're going to bang on rap like that, you might as well rip other genres that you listen to.

I don't listen to rock, and if you think Classical is repetetive, I beg to differ. While many songs have certain themes, the variety of music in the classical genre is astounding. You cannot listen to Pachelbel's Canon in D and Mozart's Requiem and say they are the same, unlike many rap songs.

I don't like listening to rap. I like listening to rock. Rock sounds good to me, rap doesn't. That's my reasoning behind it. I'm not all that fussed if people don't like the music I do, or if they choose to be a "hater". As far as I'm concerned, people can like and dislike whatever the hell they want.

I hate a majority of rap. According to my brother I hate "Midwest Rap" the most. It is slow and full of base(base is necessary for music but I like trebbile notes more) and is just god awful. They don't even sing half the time. They are just talking or speaking the lyrics.

I like some west coast rap because it is the opposite to an extent. It is fast paced and they have electroic sounds to help for the beat, which for the most part are more trebbile than base) and they at least act like they are singing. I still don't like it but I don't hate it.

Not to say that all is good or bad in each catagory but for the most part this is how it is...at least to me and from what I am told by people who like rap.
