I may have missed something, but I haven't seen Doors say anything particularly offensive. Although I'm wary of perpetuating this trail, suggesting stopping SUPPORTING a political system that can't work is not quite suggesting you change your beliefs. It could be interpretted that way, but then again holding any completely impractical ideal isn't necessarily a great idea. But then hope may be good, as may be dreaming, and hey, communism might work.

Has anyone actually looked at the link Wuggly Blight posted by the way (not that I want to stray on topic or anything).

I say what I think. If you disagree, then that is up to you.

Actually, it was more of a direct command, telling me to stop supporting it.

I didn't just mean from this topic, from this topic it's just from flamming. I did look at the page and found it pretty interesting but I haven't remembered to go back and thoroughly read through it.

He said 'let it go', I dunno, that just doesn't stike me much as a command, it's tricky to tell online I guess.

I haven't read all of that site yet either, but it is interesting from what I've seen, and gives a much better picture of why America might be disliked than the Bush and Iraq comments that have been focused on IMO.

I think I'm gonna stray away from talking about politics online for a while. Maybe in a PM I might, but not in a thread for a while.

Okay, *tries to remmeber the whole of the thread* Socialism is good in moderation in a government, example: Canada, the socialist party brought in free medicare (YEAH!!!), though our medicare system does get abuse, I rather it than the US's. BTW if the Patriot Act was so unconstitutionalble how in the world did it get passed? But about past administrations, they were some good ones. Clinton did do some good, he tried to make peace in Isreal, but later was impeached for the Minca scandle. Same with Nixion, he was the first president to go to China during the Cold War, to try to make peace yet again he get's empeach for the Watergate scandle. I see a very bad pattern, presidents who do good later are put out of office in some form....That's scary...About other nations and their governmemts, yes no system is perfect, If youu want an American gov. POV just look in the their little black book, you'll see N. Korea, Iran, etc...So people would agree with others and say the US is evil (ie. Iran), but there is other evil going on in the world. BTW Temple Knight, if I recall correctly you said your extreme capatilist, well wouldn't that make you fascist? They way I learned the whole political spectrum was like this:

    Communism Socialism Center Capatalism Fascism
    |______________|_______________|___________|_______________|

Yeah, both US political parties are to the right, wh8ilst it's norhtern neighbour's parties tend to be around the center, but there is some Canadian politicians whom themselves are to the right, *coughs* Paul Martin, and *forgets name* the Conservative leader, this was a terrible election in Canada last year, luckily I couldn't vote yet. (Sorry for going off topic)

    Ah, America.

As bad as some of us might think the government is, we're still allowed enough freedom to express said distain for the government, which I think in and of itself keeps America from ever really crumbling. Those of us who live in America and are very critical of the government need to take a step back, myself included, and realize that as much as we wish things were different, we're still very, very lucky to be where we are.

For those who do not live within the country, perhaps take heart in the knowledge that many people within the country share your questioning perspective and hopefully, we'll be able to make the country progress in the right direction. No country is perfect, no government is perfect no person is perfect, but so long as any of these things continues to try and improve itself, it will only get better, not worse.

    Take care all.

Just to clear some things up the Patriot Act didn't pass and President Clinton wasn't impeached. He was put on trial but not convicted.

Also, to complete what theundeadhero said, Nixon wasn't impeached either. He was going to be, but resigned before it happened.

    And then there is Death

I don't like seeing anyone leave the forums, really. The problem is being more tolerant to other peoples ideas. If you start a thread stating an opinion like this it's expected for it to be argued over. The difference is learning to keep argueing the subject and not start attacking an individual person.

Neither of those statements is even remotely correct. Perhaps you should do some studying.

    Main Entry: 1im·peach
    Pronunciation: im-'pEch
    Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Middle English empechen, from Middle French empeechier to hinder, from Late Latin impedicare to fetter, from Latin in- + pedica fetter, from ped-, pes foot -- more at FOOT
1 a : to bring an accusation against b : to charge with a crime or misdemeanor; specifically : to charge (a public official) before a competent tribunal with misconduct in office
2 : to cast doubt on; especially : to challenge the credibility or validity of
3 : to remove from office especially for misconduct,

He was accused of a crime but never charged and removed from office.

With the patriot act I was assuming they meant the Patriot Act II. Stupid I know, but I wasn't thinking all that much about it at the time.

Clinton was impeached. He wasn't convicted. There's a difference.
