As a US citizen(please dont hold it against me) I must say I agree. Many americans, myself included, are ashamed of our government. Fortunatly, Bush cant run again.(unless they eliminate the 2 term limit)

I know the US is a constitutional replublic, but there was a famous republique that did fall *coughs* Rome. But having the head of state nad the head of government the same there is draw backs. For example he could pass bill that benefit him (obviously they would have to be pass by congress), but also it makes for a more independant country. the reverse is true about Canada's government *forgets name ( constitutional democracy, or maybe monarchy)* Also unfretted capitalism COULD lead to corporations having too much of a strong influence of the government. that is why I think that politicians shouldn't have ANY affliation with a corporation, buisness or etc... For it could influence his decissions, the head of state and government both should be neutral, thinking only for the best of their people, and not personal profit. So in my subjective opinion, capitalism has flaws too. yes, maybe communism is a meme, an idea that continues to pop up through out history. In my POV an ideal/perfect government is meme, and is unattainable for there is nothing perfect ever created by humans.

Pure capitalism is when economics and state are seperate; in other words, I absolutely agree with you that politicians should not have any affiliation with a business. It's one of America's biggest problems today.

edit=Rome dissolved and all the non european/romans literaly left and went back to there home continents.Mainly ecause
1.it was sacked twice
2.90% unemployment rate
3.horrible place to live in
4.greed plain and simple.The people who had money didnt want to spend there money so they basicly used slaves to do there work.Which contributes to why the unemployment rate was 90% in the city itself.

So Rome dissolved and split.Eventually it dissolved all together both eastern and western empires.Yeah the end.Though the roman empire would've been way better than america if people back then actually had a value for human life.

oh yeah and if oyu look back in america history.If the US government havent had got involved int eh market then teh gap between the rich and the poor will still be as big as it was during the late 1800s.

Edit-antoher thing is if hte US government let businesses do whatever they want unregulated then it'll be complete chaos.I mean greed will run through the veins of these companies.Well it already is but it will be a lot worse.

I am sorry, if I went off topic, please forgive me...

If we had the Patriot Act installed in place, we could've probably prevented 9/11 from happening, as well as many other terrorist attacks leading up to 9/11. I dont understand why people think its unconstitutional when you still have your 4th and 6th amendment that are meant to protect to stop prosecution by unfair police tactics. The main purpose of the Patriot Act is to dismantle the wall between government agencies/law enforcement and the terrorists wanting to do harm. I want you guys to tell my why the Patriot Act is bad? Other then your rights being violated, when your not a terrorist yourself conspiring to do harm to America, or are you?

The U.S. Government has a flawless thing called Checks and Balances.Well thats about to disappear now that the republicans are in control.Literally they are in complete control.But a few senators say they are gonna try and keep checks and balances.But most of the republics are Bush's lap dogs.
