    Default Laguna and co.

In the climax of Laguna and co's escape from the Lunatic Pandora excavation site in Centra ( disc 1 , second flashback) they're surrounded by Estharian soldiers and are forced back to the edge of a giant cliff. A fierce battle ensues - Kiros and Ward are badly wounded by an Estharian cyborg , their HP reduced to 1 by the move "Soul Crush "... Ward loses his voice.

Just curious , but is there any way of avoiding this or is it supposed to happen as part of the storyline ?

Right - Ward is supposed to lose his voice, and they all are supposed to be severely injured by the confrontation.

If you spring the traps in Lunatic Pandora, it'll reduce the number of soldiers you have to fight in this battle, but the cyborg always uses that finishing move.

That doesn't happen if I am correct. Or I could be mistaking. But there is indeed no way to avoid this things. (SPOILER)Plus when they go down from the Lunatic Pandora, Laguna will meet up with the Shumi.

Yeah - it could be pretty disastrous - I mean , can you imagine the scene if Ward was present at an audience between President Laguna and foreign ambassadors looking to negotiate a conclusion to a horrible war ... and Ward falls ill , and he's trying to get Laguna to understand him , but Laguna is too preoccupied with the negotiation and too vague to realize what he's saying and Ward just faints right there and flattens one of the ambassadors under his enormous bulk ...
