Default Books that suck.

Hi. This thread idea came from the other thread by tomothy that I hereby dub "Books that rock." But this thread is the anti-thesis to that one. Books that suck, obviously. I would like a discussion on the list of books you couldn't stand reading, and would rather eat wild porcupine spines than re-read. Mine.

The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne (sorry theundeadhero )

    Signature by rubah. I think.

Heart of Darkness by I believe it is Joseph Conrad. I HATED that book. Same goes for Jane Eyre.

Behold the Void: Thanks bro! I will have to read those 2 books (And a couple others by the same authors) for my english class this semester. Now I'm really pumped.

I don't know about ya'll, but I found the wonderful classic, Gulliver's Travels to be almost unreadable and thoroughly unenjoyable.

Forrest Gump, I cant remember the author. It could be because I saw the movie first, but jeez... Forrest of the book isnt at all the sweet Forrest of the movie, and the plot is complete nonsense. All the thing that happened to Gump in the movie (meeting the Presidents, unwittingly getting involved in major historical events of the day) were at least believable. The things he gets into in the book are complete bull.

Heart of Darkness was pretty bad, I agree.

I don't read books I don't like, but I did try starting Robinson Crusoe and couldn't bear it. Long narratives with no dialogue bores me.

Speaking of Robinson Crusoe, the other Robin and Island book that was so horrible that evolution probably went backward for a year after it was published is The Swiss Family Robinson.

    YES.

Also, Lord of the Flies by an author whose name I can't recall at the moment. We had to read it in English class one year and I didn't like it one bit.

Much Ado About Nothing was a drag and a half.

The Resident Evil series. They are so pathetic that I just want to laugh. And to think that I actually enjoyed reading them at one point in time...

The Wheel of Time, in which Rand does nothing for 400 pages, gets laid, and angsts for the remainder of the book. Repeat until Robert Jordan's house is plated in gold.
