Ok, heres how it breaks down. The thieves from FF1/3 are just underpowered ninjas, so they obviously die. FFV thief is just useless in a fight unless he's running like the little pansy he is, so he's gone. Zell has mug, true, but he's also an egotistical jackass and will be so busy trying to impress his ninja buddies that he'll simply die on the end of someones sword/dagger/ninja star/anything else pointy. Yuffie had a big ninja star, but realistically her magic capacity was severely limited, unless she had all master materia, so she's kinda out. Edge... well, lets face it he was powerful but he was also sort of a doofus as long as ANY woman was around, and with a distraction like rikku... well, he's dead meat. The FF1/3 ninjas were also severely underpowered compared to their later counterparts, as was Mr Pavel. Now we are down to...

FFVI Locke
FFVI Shadow
FFIX Zidane
FFX Rikku
This is where it gets interesting. First to go down is Rikku, because she's a little dull, and you can scare her off with bolt1 if things get desperate, not to mention her poor physical damage. The FFV Ninja holds out for awhile, but the crippling lack of magic power compared to the FFVI characters is just too much, and he/she is knocked out of the tourney. Now we have Zidane, Locke and Shadow. Locke is no match for the others, as stealing is no good in this kind of fight when your foes can throw everything, including the kitchen sink your way. Now its down to zidane and Shadow, and the running is pretty much even, UNTIL!!! Interceptor jumps in and rips out Zidanes throat. Shadow and interceptor win as Co champions.
Who can keep from wetting their pants longer in the face of vintage FF1 Chaos - Edward/Gilbert of FFIV or Siegfriend of FFVI?

I have to go with golbez on this one... he has "hold gas". I think that attack worked on the principle that you said its name and your enemy rolled around on the ground laughing for a few turns.

Dark King, Since Edward doesn't have CURE and therefore can't exploit the stupid weakness. Plus, Dark Kings a Spider, and Edward's afraid of, well, a lot of things, maybe spiders also.

Squall vs Tidus vs Amarant vs Faris in a game of E.R.S. (card game, like war+slap jack. You have to lay face cards on face cards to continue, if you fail within a certain number of cards, the person that went before you gets all the cards in the pile. slap on doubles. takes a bit of reflexes. but I didn't want to use thieves, so we have the moderately agile warriors.)
