Default One Hit Wonders: List your favorites

There's been plenty of One Hit Wonders from the past to present. A lot of these One Hit Wonders have only one big hit out of all their songs. Some will be remembered for a long time, others will probably won't be remembered. However, their one hit will probably be always remembered, whether or not the artist is popular or not.

Anyway, if you want to find the "complete" list of One Hit Wonders, a list can be found in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-hit..._United_States

Anyway, if you want to, list your favorite(s) from each decade.

    I'll start.

    1950's
    None, really.

    1960's
    The Surfaris - Wipeout

    1970's
Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting
Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music
    Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight

Quad City DJ - C'mon And Ride It (The Train)
    Semisonic - Closing Time
    Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta
    OMC - How Bizarre
Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy
Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me
Tom Cochrane - Life Is A Highway
    Los Del Rio - Macarena
Lou Bega - Mambo Number 5
Marcy Playground - Sex and Candy
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression That I Get
    Chumbawumba - Tubthumping
    Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity

Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Zoot Suit Riot

    2000's
Nine Days - Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)
Afroman - Because I Got High
Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Di)
Dirty Vegas - Days Go By
    Trapt - Headstrong
    Finger Eleven - One Thing
Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom

Of course, the "One Hit Wonders" of 2000's may have other hits before the decade is over, so who knows about them. xD

Anyway, list your favorites from that site. =)

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

man, you qoute the Sugarhill Gang as a one hit wonder? *shakes head* Same with Orgy, Jars of Clay, and Dirty Vegas. Jars of Clay especially has put out tons of hits, you just probably didn't know who did them. Dirty Vegas on the other hand, just put out another one (thought the title escapes me, i've seen it about fifty times on MTV already) a bit ago.

They're not all really one hit wonders, but most of them do only have one big hit in the Top 40 the US only. It's only according to the folks who did that one article on One Hit Wonders.

Apparently, I have been declared banished.

I don't like this list, it's stupid. Most of these people have had several hits, just not top forty hits. But I'll play along.

    1950's
-- Earth Angel by The Penguins (HAVEN'T YOU PEOPLE SEEN BACK TO THE FUTURE >:O)
-- Rockin' Robin by Bobby Day

    1960's
-- Blue Moon by The Marcels
-- Classical Gas by Mason Williams
-- Ding Dong the Witch is Dead by The Fifth Estate
-- Do You Love Me by The Contours
-- San Francisco (Be sure to wear flowers in your hair) by Scott McKenzie
-- Tiptoe Through the Tulips by Tiny Tim
    -- Wipeout by The Surfaris

    1970's
-- "Afternoon Delight" by Starland Vocal Band
-- "The Hustle" by Van McCoy & The Soul City Symphony
-- "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry (hah Mungojerri and Rumpleteaser, if you've seen Cats you know what I mean xD)
-- "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas

-- "More, More, More" - Andrea True Connection

-- "Rapper's Delight" by Sugarhill Gang
-- "Ring My Bell" by Anita Ward
-- "Turn The Beat Around" by Vicki Sue Robinson

    1980's (Now it gets big)

--"Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" by Elmo and Patsy
-- "It's Raining Men" by the Weather Girls
-- "Keep Your Hands to Yourself" by Georgia Satellites
    -- "Mickey" by Toni Basil
-- "Pump Up the Volume" by M/A/R/R/S
-- "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco (quite possibly the COOLEST song ever)
-- "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell
-- "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors
-- "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin

    1990's
    --"6 Underground" by Sneaker Pimps
--"Achy, Breaky Heart" by Billy Ray Cyrus (bite me)
--"All For You" by Sister Hazel (If this band is a one hit wonder, I'll eat my hat)
    --"All Cried Out" by Allure
--"Are You Jimmy Ray?" by Jimmy Ray
--"Baby, I Love Your Way" by Big Mountain
--"Better Days (And The Bottom Drops Out)" by Citizen King
    --"Bitch" by Meredith Brooks
I'm not even putting orgy on here because they had several hits on MTV alone.
--"Breakfast At Tiffany's" by Deep Blue Something
    --"Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle
--"C'mon And Ride It (The Train)" by Quad City DJ's
--"Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)" by Us3 (awesome awesome song)
--"Charm Attack" by Leona Naess (I honestly didn't know anyone but me knew this song. Yay!)
    --"Closer To Free" by BoDeans
I like other stuff by Semisonic, but NOT Closing time, ugh.

    --"Far Behind" by Candlebox
    --"Flagpole Sitta" by Harvey Danger
--"I'll Be There For You (Theme From "Friends")" by The Rembrandts
Ok, I can name at least FIVE songs by Tonic that are mainstream, and that I hear on the radio at least once a month.
--"Legend Of A Cowgirl" by Imani Coppola (Another awesome song)
--"Life Is A Highway" by Tom Cochrane
--"Missing" (remix) by Everything But The Girl
    --"Naked Eye" by Luscious Jackson
    --"Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum
    --"Save Tonight" by Eagle-Eye Cherry
    --"The Freshmen" by Verve Pipe
--"The Impression That I Get" by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
--"The Mummers' Dance" by Loreena McKennitt
--"Your Woman" by White Town (Maybe the weirdest song ever)
--"Zoot Suit Riot" by Cherry Poppin' Daddies

    2000's
    --"Amazing" by Josh Kelley
--"Castles In The Sky" by Ian Van Dahl
--"Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas (but only the acoustic version.)
--"Gotta Get Thru This" by Daniel Bedingfield WRONG, he had a secnd hit, don't remember what it was called.
--"Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse WRONG, had three hits. Hanging by a moment, Sick Cycle Carosel and Spin
--"Headstrong" by Trapt WRONG, current hits include Headstrong, Still Frame and one I don't know the name of, but I hear once a DAY on my drive.
    --"Ladies" by Sarai
--"Look at Us" by Sarina Paris
--"One More Time" by Daft Punk WRONG, total BS. They had a hit in the nineties with a song called All Around the World or summat. There were dancing mummies in the video. Also, they had several other songs with the same theme as one more time released in subsequent years.
--"One Thing" by Finger Eleven WRONG, just... I.... *explodes*
--"Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne (xD)
--"United States of Whatever" by Liam Lynch
--"Vindicated" by Dashboard Confessional I actually hate this song, but what about Screaming Infidelities? Saints and Sailors? Again, this is mislabelled.

I think Proto is trying to kill me.

    Signature by rubah. I think.

    Daniel Bedingfield
What? He's had lots of hits. He in fact had another song that got a higher chart postion then that song and hit Number one. I hate the man personally, but I can't believe he's in there... Posibily cause all opthers sound like another artist perhaps, I don't know.

OTHER ONE HIT WONDERS THAT I THINK HAVEN'T BEEN MENTIONED

    1990's
All Saints: Pure Shores (The only decent thing by these gals)
    Adamski: Killer
    Babylon Zoo- Spaceman
Beats International: Dub Be Good To Me
Bob The Builder: Can We Fix it? (No)
    Cornershop: Brimful Of Asha
    KLF: 3 AM
    Maria MeKee: Show Me Heaven
New Found Radicals (I think): You Only Get What You Give
Sinead O'Conner- Nothing Compares 2 U (She cries!)

    2000's
O-Zone: Dragostea di Tei (This Song is like so cool. And rubbish)
Frankee: F.U.R.B (*shudders since this song was played*)
The 411: Dumb (Dumb dicki dumb dumb. I liked this one)
Eric Prdez: Call On Me (This one made me want to kill myself)
    Room 5: Make Luv
