Default Nuclear War : a nightmare waiting to happen...

Nuclear war is possibly one of the biggest threats to the existence of human civilization to emerge within the last century.Since the A-Bombs were dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, I think it's possibly one of the biggest issues on the international front.

Though thankfully we have the UN and the START 1 , START 2 international treaties , as well as the upcoming G8 superpower conference , it's still a major concern ,particularly where China and North Korea's nuclear weapons programs are concerned ...

Imagine waking up one typical tabloid morning and picking up the paper to find that half of the population of the world had been totally wiped out ... to me, that's just a nightmare waiting to happen.

Yeah but with people like Bush and Kim Something II in power the horror only gets worse as they keep making them or try to make them.

I mention Bush because we appearantly need to stay one step ahead on the front of nuclear disaster by building bunker busting nukes. Correct me if I am wrong but if the other guys are in a bunker they would die anyways. If not from the blast the from the radiation.

The Bush administration knows very well that they could and would start the third world war (if they had enough time in power, that is) and that is why we are still worried about building up our nuclear aresenal.

Don't worry about the nuclear war, the US military is developing technology to construct antimateria bombs already, so when the world population is erradicated, it will be in a clean and ecological way, with no radiation.

I seriously doubt someone is going to start a Nuclear War, I'm sure even Bush isn't THAT stupid.

With technology like that, the word "superpower" would surely have to be upped a notch

It's not Bush. It's Rove. And it won't appear stupid from the begining, because we will have a huge strategical advantage. Hitler was smart, and he started a world war because he thought he could win it. Winning is all that will matter to a person like Hitler, or Karl Rove. People's lives are not a factor.

Forgive me for asking but....Who is Karl Rove?

The reason I ask this is because I haven't watched the news for a long while.

Bush's Propaganda Minister, or, whatever his real title is. He's eerily reminiscent of Joseph Goebbels.

He's a genius though. BEFORE George W. Bush was even into politics.. before he was governor of Texas, Karl Rove said "Im gonna make him president" and he did it. I hate him, but I respect, and envy his power.

Funny enough it takes only 300 nukes to destroy the planet, mind you that by then we would all be dead from the radiation. If I heard right the US has 1400 nukes, and Russia has, *thinks* I know it's a little over a thousand, maybe? Plus there is other countries who have nuclear technology: China, India, Pakistan, Isreal (though they deny it), Iran has wants to have nuclear power plants (unless they already have them...). Austarlia is a no nuke zone. But, I am not that worried about nuke war, because they are trying to disarm. The Us wanted to put the plutonium in the Canadian Shield, but Canada refused.

I would laugh so hard if the world got into a nuclear war, tried to use the nukes, and had every single flipping one be a dud.

...of course, we'd just build more. Then I wouldn't laugh anymore.

Summoner, you're right that the world spends too much time/money on nukes. IMHO, it's strictly a game of "my is bigger than yours". If hostile aliens from outer space come around or something, that'd be one thing, but come on. The only hostile aliens I know of are (perhaps) a few EoFF members. :alien:

I think we should disarm. Not because I'm a pacifist, but because with thousands of nukes kicking around, we're just begging somebody to fire off a couple. And if one of us does, everybody else will, and we're royally screwed. Why not go back to the days of using swords and stuff, rather than huddle in a foxhole praying somebody hundreds of miles away doesn't decide to push a little red button?

That wouldn't scare very many people, because most people would assume the tabeloids were as full of BS as ever.

And we sneak a call And we're like thieves I love the times like these Just don't say goodbye Just won't you please I'm trying to do the right thing

All my life I was in the cold Now I find I feel nothing more Leave me to learn Leave me to hurt Now I'm not so invincible

The nuke has no reason to be built up in the first place, It should never be used so why some war monger twit has enough nukes to destory the world is pretty scary.
I would say the bigger nuke threat isnt from the middle east but bush himself.

You forgot the UK and France who both have nuclear arsenals, and who in the event of a nuclear war would probably be on the side of the US, as would Israel. India and Pakistan would probably just nuke each other to kingdom come. Russia no longer have much power anymore, so if you ask me, the main threats are China and North Korea. Well no, the main threat is probably the USA, but these two countries are more likely to want to start a nuclear war with the USA than any of the others with a nuclear arsenal.
